“By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia’, the ’security’ of the nation, and the right of each citizen ‘to keep and bear arms’, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.”
John F. Kennedy, April 1960

Kennedy was a life member of the NRA who was shot and killed by a card-carrying member, Oswald, of the ACLU. Oswald was the ultimate socialist in those days just like Pelosi, Feinstein, Reid, Schumer and the Clintons are today.
I think it's amazing these same politicians say how good a President he'd of been had he not been assassinated; yet they continually ignore the many things he said in the short time he did have as this countries Commander in Chief. Things just like what was said in the first post...
And they continue to also ignore the many things others before and after John F. have said as well. It's sad they put their own agenda first rather then what's best for this country.

By many standards, Kennedy would be defined as a conservative today. Many of his positions and speaches sounded more Reaganesque than modern democrat. In the old days, there didn't seem to be that much that seperated democrat and republican. Today, their ideologies are diametrically opposed. Reagan was a democrat, remember, before he switched parties. But when he switched parties, he said he didn't change his views, but that the party changed it's views until he could no longer agree.
I don't know how or who was behind the democrat platform becoming so twisted and obscenely socialist / anti-capitalist, but they are so far away from the kennedy era now that I'd hazard to guess Kennedy himself probably wouldn't be associated with that party if he was still alive today.
I remember Kennedys administration. Back in those days the dems had a reputation for representing the working class, and repubs represented big business.
Kennedy was the last conservative democrat that held office. L.B.J. was the first liberal minded democrat, as he thought government should be involved in peoples lives, and the tag "liberal" was first used with Hubert Humphrey and his ideology.

Other sayings of his include:
Today we need a nation of minutemen, CITIZENS who are not only prepared to take an arm, but Citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.
The high office of the president has been used to foment a plot to destroy America's freedom and before I leave office, I must inform the citizen of this plight. JFK at Columbia University Nov 12 th 1963, ten days before his assassination.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. JFK
How true those words are today!

Kennedy also wrote the executive order that created the U.S. Navy SEAL program, and expanded all Special Operations programs. Thats why the Special Forces Center is named after him: The John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School
Thanks. The main reason I joined this site was because of folks like all of you. We all seem to have our heads on Right. Now if we could only get the DemoCRAPS and Looney Libs to get it together. P.S. , JFK...I was Wrong about you. You now have My full Respect.

this is why, I believe , we are primed for our 2nd civil war.....

It's also why the Green Beret has a black leather sweatband. I was told by a friend of mine who spent time under the beanie that the black band symbolizes perpetual mourning for John F. Kennedy, whose intervention saved the Special Warfare program when the more conservative members of the Army's Establishment wanted it shut down.
Because of his service in PT boats during World War II, the Special Forces thought of him as one of their own. And the feeling was reciprocated; if you look at the footage of Kennedy's lying in state and the funeral, you'll see that half the honor guard and half the pallbearers are Green Berets. I believe that was done by specific request of Jackie Kennedy. She knew how JFK felt about Special Forces and special operators like the SEALs.
