Are you a Nascar Fan? I started watching it in 2001. I share the same birthday(August 4th) as Jeff Gordon so I'm a #24 fan. I found out last year I also share my birthday with the "Chosen One".

I like NASCAR, I dont follow it as much as I used to. I have gotten a little sick of some of sponsers and the way it seems to be watered down from the more maverick days of stock car racing. I have a lot more fun watching local dirt track stuff than most of the big series stuff now a days, but I still tune in for it.
I vividly remember the day I came home from work to find my wife sitting on the living room floor crying her eyes out. I was struck with panic thinking something was wrong with our baby, or that her grandma had cancer or some tragic event had happened to her. I asked her what was wrong , and she looked up at me with tears streaming down her cheeks as she said " Dale Earnhardt died ! "
- It was then that I realized how white trash we really were.

Nascar was my favorite thing to watch/attend. That was until they let toyota in the mix. Now I dont even keep up with it. Plus, when they did away with the, race what they sell image, that brought it down a notch.
I'm just amused that the NASCAR folks don't want to admit that Chick Hicks (No. 86, the green car sponsored by Hostile Takeover Bank) of Cars was inspired by the early career of Dale Earnhardt Sr. The make of car matches one Dale Sr. used to drive in the late '70s; he was known for his big mustache; and allegedly he was not above bumping an opponent to knock 'im loose the way Chick does.
The man wasn't always Saint Dale! I mean, if they can admit that Strip Weathers (aka "The King") is that Pontiac Superbird painted in Petty Blue, and that Bob Cutlass and Darryl Cartrip are really Bob Costas and Darryl Waltrip, why can't they admit that Chick Hicks is the young Dale Earnhardt Sr?
I love racing and of the big series, NASCAR is my least favorite. Give me F1 or Indy any day over NASCAR. Right now, NASCAR is where the moneys at though.
I used to be a rabid Nascar fan, back when the principle was "how fast will the family truckster go" and they started with showroom cars. Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, the Allisons going 200 mph in a car that you could drive on the street if it had tail lights. That's racing.
When they went to the "silhouette" cars, it was downhill after that. Now they're running purpose built race chassis and I really don't see much difference between it and any other racing series. Seems like all the racing is done during the rule making sessions.

Love racing, actually my wife is a bigger fan than me. We used to own seats inthe Winston tower at Daytona for the Pepsi 400 but sold them a while back. We try to watch the races on the weekends whenever possible. I figure she puts up with me during football season, I can surely watch some crazy drivers tearing up the track.
As a past participant, and having once held a Nascar competiter license, I can say, yes, I'm a fan..I'm also approx 3 miles from a great 1/2 mile paved track that runs the modifieds every summer on Friday nights, and drags Sat night... You'll usually find me at the track every weekend, both nights, when the wife is working her 12-hour shift.
I use to be a nascar fan,not so much any more,I didn't mind the car changes so much, but when they started that race for the chase or what ever it is called now I lost intrest, you work all season long&do not make it in to the top 10& you are prety much done for the rest of the year.
I'll watch it when they turn right as well as left. As far as racing on the surface I prefer motorcycle roadracing. I used to be a corner worker for a road racing club in Kalifornia and have worked pro events(AMA, World Super Bike) as well. If you really want to hear an engine scream go to the Reno air races. I also like the Red Bull air race series.
