People are worried...

I went into Walmart last night to do some shopping. I stumbled across the gun department and decided to see what they had. I over heard the lady talking to another fella at the counter about there ammo and guns. And I was shocked at what I saw. She said they could LITERLY not even keep the bulk 550 boxes of .22 ammo in the store. They went as soon as they got an order. They no longer even put them in the case but just put them on the floor because they are gone. Both the Remington and Fedrel brands. But that's not all, ALL the .22 rifles they had along with many of the shotguns were GONE! They literly had not more that 10 guns for sale there and the ones in the rack no longer had prices on them but were already sold. There ammo was actually cleaned out in the .22 department!

And I talked to the lady, she said it wasn't just a coincidence. They haven't been stocked for a while. People are buying ammo like crazy.

I think this is real folks.

You know who might not take away guns, but ammo, that's another story.

Put more regs on it!

People better start thinking that there may not always be ammo.

Flintlocks and a .22 rifle my not be a bad idea!

I hope that isn't the case here locally. I was going to Wal-Mart on the way home to buy a Federal Bulk Pack to go shooting tomorrow...

I haven't seen bulk .22lr ammo at my local walmart in over two months. The guy said every time they get a case of bulk packs they are gone within 24 hours. Ive been at least 10 times, hoping to find at least one box, but every time they are out. I have substituted my standard Golden Bullets with some other brands (the Winchester 333 packs, and Federal target match 325 pack), but I haven't been able to test them out. Though, ammo is ammo, and at least next time I practice I won't have to worry about using up ol' reliable.

I am concerned as well. I have been buying as much ammo as I can when I can before it is so heavily taxed by the gov. that I can't afford it. I read an article in the mag. backwoods living here recently that talked about stocking up on ammo and it made me think.

I've made up my mind that .22's and flintlocks aren't a bad idea.

You can kill a lot of small game animals with .22lr's Every bird in the US, and in emergencies...even deer (but it's illegal to use a .22lr for deer in most states)

Fun part is, until they get serious about our southern border...getting cheap ammo will never be a real problem.

And if the anti-gun Dems become too nasty...there's always room for another Clinton-Era Vote-Out just like when Clinton did the AWB...next election the Republicans took over.

Around here, I can still find .22LR at Wal-Mart, but I had to go to 6 different stores before I could lay hands on any .38 special (and it was ridiculously expensive, but I bought some anyway). Pretty much the only handgun ammo I could find anywhere was 9mm, and even then, not so much.

I just came back from Wal-Mart and they had 6 boxes of the Fed 550 rd box and so I bought another one. They were very thin on pistol ammo they had 1 box of .38 and 3 boxes of 9mm and I bought one of those as well. There was no premium loads of pistol ammo it was all target loads.

I too notice how Walmarts ammo has been getting very low on suppy. And our stores dont sell guns. I wonder if they are going to do away with ammo altogether.

Walmarts in my area have been sold out of most ammunition (common types) since just prior to the pesidential election. I have not noticed any dramatic change in firearms on the shelf other than pistols and the so called "assault rifles". Walmart gets in ammunition and it sells out in a day or so. It is changinng as prior to a week or so ago, they weren't getting any ammo in, period. Things are improving now.

You notice that Kentucky, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas Southern Indiana had a major ice store about two weeks ago.... normally you see the president show up when there are a million people without electricity regionally. No Obama. No press criticism either. Interesting, huh? Must be all that stockpiled ammo. I expect BHO to be the most snotty president we have had since Nixon.

Unhappy

I am in Albuquerque, New Mexico it is not .22; but, 9mm, 38, 357, etc. Wally World, Big 5, Sportman's World, etc. Some local mom and pop shops have ammo; but at small quantity.

I have to do the online; but, deal with back order.

Yep, no mention of any FEMA assist either. Maybe they are there, but it isn't being reported on.
Maybe barry doesn't trust the good GUN-OWNING folks in the 'fly-over' states....

Wally's here has been very spotty on ammo - I haven't seen a 500 or 550 bulk box of .22's in ages. Well, not since just before the Big Ammo Panic set in.
Guess I can get more light .224's and shoot my .22 Hornet rifle more with handloads.

Saturaday I went to 5 differant wal-marts and the local Academy Sportings Goods, Hand gun ammo and Military rifle ammo is all gone from the shelves. 22LR bulk packs are gone. All's that I seen was 6 boxes of 357 sig, 1 box of 44 spl, 22 shot shellsand way over priced CCI and Rem 22 Shorts. Still plenty of shot shells but the slugs and buck shot are getting thin. From SW MO

In the Denver area I have been to several Wallys, and they are always at least 2/3s out of ammo. One guy at the ammo counter told me it comes in, in the morning and most of it is gone by the afternoon.

Yep, It's like this all over the country. Even re-loading supplies are flying of the shelf. The term "out of stock" is a very common site. I'm glad I stocked up on reloading supplies and .22 ammo before this all started.

What I wonder about is who is doing the ammo buying. We already know that gun sales are through the roof. I suspect many of the runs on ammo are those people buying ammunition for their newly purchased weapons (especially if a lot of them are first-time owners).

Secondly, I think it's important to have perspective that this kind of thing has happened before and will happen again. Any economic downturn results in increased firearms and ammunition purchases; it does not necessarily mean that everyone thinks the sky is falling. They just feel safer with a gun in the house.

I work with a guy that just bought his first gun (a Moss 500) and a few boxes of buckshot; he's got it locked up away from the kids, but he feels a little better about things now. It's a psychological response to a perceived threat in our current environment. I suspect there are many tens of thousands in the same boat he is/was.

I called my local gun shop to ask them if they had any small pistol primers in stock. He said he received 20 boxes in yesterday. One guy came in and bought them all. That's 20,000 primers!!! What the heck?
