Savage 200 stocks?

Anyone know which model savage will replace a savage 200 stock well?

I got a stevens 200 in .243 the other day, it's pretty much my yote gun but I want to have a different stock I can switch out for deer.

I winter camo'd it the other day...great for the off season....bad for october .

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ellsworth

Hey Ellsworth,

I just purchased the exact same gun and caliber. I've looked on a number of websites but have had no luck either. If you find something, post it here please!

Thanks,

Nice purchase! I'm steadily impressed with the stevens lately, i'm hitting 2 inch targets at 230 yards now with my Nikon Prostaff, I love the thing especially for under 500 for the whole set up.

This is what i've been hearing lately for stocks.

Richards Micro fit
Boyds

The Boyds website has the correct measurements to determine what action you have.

Assuming that they both have blind magazines, the short action Savage 10/11/12/14/16 with fit the short action Stevens 200s and the long action Savage 110/111/112/114/116 with fit the long action Stevens 200s.

I bought a Savage 11FNS youth package gun in 204 for a little over $300 on Gun Broker and swapped a full-length short action Stevens 200 stock onto it that I bought on eBay for $25.

If you want a laminated stock, I'd suggest going with a Savage factory stock or a Boyd's JRS. Richards Microfit stock require a lot of work and about 1/2 the time the inletting is either too little (not such a bad thing) or too much (never a good thing). Boyd's JRS laminated stocks are heavy, so probably not the best thing for a rifle that you're planning to carry very often or very far. McMillan makes a nice synthetic stock for the Savage 11 and 110 actions, but most folks aren't going to put a $400 stock on a Savage.

Good luck!

Jeff
