Enfield cocking piece help please

I've got an Enfield rifle No.4 Mk.2 that the tip of the cocking piece broke off. My questions is, will a cocking piece from other model rifles fit it?

I bought one at a gun show, and the firing pin won't thread in without resistance. Upon closer inspection, the thread pattern looks to be different between the two cocking pieces (the broken cocking piece and the one I purchased). In addition, the cutouts on the bottom of the cocking pieces aren't exactly the same shape either.

I also have a No. 4 Mk. 1/3 and the cocking piece I bought at the gun show will also not thread that firing pin. Does anyone have any ideas or help for the situation? However, I do not know what model the cocking piece fits or came from either. It came from a box of Enfield parts. Any input is appreciated

I do believe the threads are different between the No.1 Mk.III and the No.4 Mk.I. I think the later cocking pieces for the No.1 Mk.III looked similar to the cocking piece of the No.4 Mk.I. That would make it easy to get mixed up. The good news is that I think they are not too spendy from Springfield Sporters.
Hope that helped out a bit.

Thanks for the reply. If anyone has any other parts places to recommend besides the one Tomcat mentioned or Numrich, please do share

I see bolts and bolt parts on evil-bay. Only problem is many of the sellers don't really know what they are selling, so you could get something other than described.

Sarco is another that may be worth trying.

I think I am one of the few people who tend to avoid E-bay if possible...LOL. And it is true, a lot of those people don't know what they are selling. When I need parts I usually check out Springfield Sporters first, not sure why, but I think they are a bit cheaper. Also think there is a company called "Hoosier Gun Works" that mightbe worth checking into as well.
Thanks
Mark

I'm pretty sure that the threaded parts on No1 Enfields were done to a proprietary standard; whereas the threads on a No4 Enfield are SAE type. So threaded bits from No1's and No4's are incompatible.

Also, check the threads on your firing pin and cocking piece and make sure they aren't messed up; that would make screwing the parts together difficult to impossible.

Yea, threads look good. Just the difference in sizes. I'll check out the Springfield Sporters, and see what they can do. Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated

Yea, I spoke with the guy at length on the phone, and he said it should be the right piece. But he also said that sometimes the firing pin needs "fitting" to the cocking piece. Has anyone else had any problems with fitting firing pins to a cocking piece?
