Exclamation i've got a problem

fired my sks today and when done i did what i always do with other guns. i put a spent case in my gun and squeeze the trigger so as not to dry fire my gun. apparently i can't do this with an sks. now the bolt is locked and i can't get it open even after taking off cover and removing gas system. is there a release somewhere? i fired corrosive ammo through it and need to clean it. thanks for any suggestions

Get a rubber mallet and smack the bolt handle, it'll open the bolt and expell the spent case. If you have a "dead-blow" mallet that is even better.

After you get it open, don't worry about dry-firing it, the fired case doesn't really do that much to protect the firing pin.

Don't put fired shells especially from a semi-auto back in the gun!

ok thanks. i got it. i slammed the butt against the floor while holding the handle. these russian weapons just need to know who the boss is. i won't put an empty shell in again. works fine for the mossy 500 but not this. thanks for the timely response. all cleaned up and ready for bed till another time. also wow is this thing fun. only problem is it just eats ammo like crazy! and about as much recoil as a 22. i don't think these things are really all that cheap to shoot cause you go through ammo faster than anything!
