Meat Inspection

I just read abt. a city in Michigan not allowing donations of wild meat to local home-less shelters. The reasoning for this is because the meat isn't Gov. inspected.
Have the same problem here too. Ain't it abt. the stupidest thing you ever heard? These people often don't bathe, have little or no concern for personal hygene, as well as frequently eat out of garbage cans.
This meat is healthier for them than regular beef etc, and a heck of a lot healthier than eating garbage, or not eating at all.

I agree....at least it would be something that is nature grown and not chemically grown.

When we lived in New York my father was a director of a homeless shelter run by the department of social services. At the time there were several hotels or caterers who would offer food to these shelters whenever people would have weddings or large parties at hotels, etc. and order more trays of food then was needed. Now these were trays of food which were already paid for and had not yet been even eaten from, but the shelters were not allowed to accept the food because of concern about proper storage temp etc from the party location to the shelters. The concern being that someone would get sick, and then sue because of improper food handling.

Its not about feeding people its about control...And they do not want people seeing people with GUNS in a positive way helping to feed the homeless...I worked at IBP, Inspected? What a joke two guys in lab coats standing there as one side of beef after another go buy. They just looked it over put a stamp on it and go to the next one, it took maybe two or three seconds and it safe?

I have to agree with Rock. The people who run the shelters "live" for federal dollars. and any donations they get jeperdize their funding. Also most of these places are run by the 3 L's(left leaning liberals) they'd do anything to prevent hunters from being shown in a favorable light.

The reason there will never be an end to the homeless problem, drugs, wellfare, ADC, and all the rest has nothing to do with the actual problem but with the people who are making a living administering the programs. If they actually fix the problem they'll be out of a job. So the problem is never fixed, but it's not the fault of the reciepents. The blame lies with the mostly liberal demoncrat(not misspelled) administrators.

I've always wanted to propose a live and learn project. We are trying to fix up our down town core and north end(slum housing mostly). Couldn't the home-less live in one building while fixing up another? Kinda earn their keep, and a few bucks to get on their feet, while learning marketable job skills.
In theory this is a win-win situation 'cuz the truly homeless recieve no gov. assistance. We don't have alot of charitys here and they can't handle the demand. They aren't gov. funded either.
Couldn't single men on welfare live there too, rather having the tax payer pick up the tab for his rent? The answer is no, they tried to bring in a system called workfare where recipients did menial labour jobs that normally were done by higher priced city employees. The unions threw a fit over that one, and a lot of the people who were too lazy, claimed it violated their human rights.
That left the men who wanted to work no job oppurtunitys, cost the tax payer more money in wages and kept people on welfare.
there is now a similiar program, you either seek employment, take courses or else must be needed at home to take care of young children or are pregnant. Guess how many woman intentionally get/stay pregnant to get bigger welfare cheques, and guess how many of those kids go hungry 'cuz the money was spent on other things.
If that animal is not only good enough for me to eat, but my prefered meat of choice, then it must be good enough for some-ne who otherwise is going hungry. Oh well I have plenty of takers for any piece of wild meat thats too much for me to eat.
