Question God drives a Chevy, why not you?

GM Targets Christians in Marketing Drive

Wednesday, October 30, 2002
By Amy C. Sims

NEW YORK — Niche marketing is reaching heavenly new heights.

Chevrolet is sponsoring an evangelical concert tour in an effort to reach some Christians, a move criticized by some as crossing the line between business and religion.

The "Chevrolet Presents: Come Together and Worship" stage show begins Nov. 1 in Atlanta and ends at the Palace at Auburn Hills, Mich., on Nov. 23.

Steve Betz, the General Motors Corp. (GM) division's marketing manager for the southeastern United States, said he was confident the tour will send a positive message and give dealers a boost.

"It's important that we get the message out there with regards to Chevrolet and how we're so family oriented and have great values,'' Betz said.

But the justification for intermingling Jesus with the latest and greatest SUVs and pickup trucks makes some uneasy..."

Ummmmmmmmmmm,

Howdy,

What line between business and religion? There is no such thing!

If that were so, no business could express their religious beliefs. There are many Jewish, Christian and otherwise religious based businesses in the world. There are others still that freely express their support for one religion or another.

And what's wrong with this picture? It is baaad Ju ju for a Car manufacturer to sponsor a Christian Tour but this is okay?
>"Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, Pfizer, Miller Brewing Company,
>United Airlines, Bank of America and Smirnoff sponsored gay
>pride celebrations in San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles,
>Chicago, New York City, and Toronto in 2002, according to
>Motherjones.com."

An issue as controversial as Homosexuality is not as bad as Christianity?

>"If it was nudity or profanity in a commercial I can see that...."
I understand what this fellow was attempting to say in the article, but look at that statement on it's face. Have you ever seen the depravity and explicit, morally decadent displays at some of these parades? Not to mention topless Lesbians marching in them???

Sponsoring this tour is a fine idea, I think. This is not a bad thing. Is it?

Don't seem too wrong as long as theyre not exploiting it by saying other co.s don't have family values.
