I've owned my P-11 for many years now and it's never given me any problems after the first two mags. I attribute that to breaking it in.
It's functioned like a champ since and is one of those "never, ever for sale or trade" kinda guns for me.

You got an honest to goodness lemon from the sounds of it. I can understand your feeling the way you do. I hope you can find a suitable replacement for it.

I have a little over 800 through my P32, and not that watered down SAAMI crud. I only feed mine real original spec 7.65Br. C.I.P. loads are far better performers in these pistols. Fiocchi even has a 60 grain HP at 1200fps that puts it squarely equal to the 380 energy wise.

I even custom dyed the grip frame on mine to a slightly lighter shade of green than the factory. The dye is through and through.....

I love my P3AT. I have made the same offer to all the Kel-Tec haters that I have made to the Taurus haters. If the gun is that bad and you hate it so much PM me. I'll do you the favor of taking it off your hands. I'll give you my dealer's name, address and FFL as well as pay for the shipping. Oddly enough, nobody has hated their Kel-Tec or Taurus enough to take me up on my kind offer.

I don't care what kind of gun you own. Some will not like it and some will. I have shoot my friends KELTEC and they are good guns. But I will stay with my Springfield 1911-A1 45cal.

+ 1 All guns have lovers and haters. I also have a Springfield 1911 A1 and love it. Also own a Kel-Tec P3AT and love that too. Can't really compair them. It is a .45 that is 8 + inches long weighing 36 ounces and a .380 that can be hidden in a shirt pocket weighing 11 ounces. The 1911 lives by my bed loaded and ready. The P3AT lives in a pocket holster loaded, ready and likes to go out on walks or drives with me.

I have a Sub2000 carbine of theirs in 9mm that uses Glock mags.

I'm still evaluating it. I was not impressed when I first got it, gave it a standard cleaning & lube and shot it for about 8rds before it stopped shooting from light primer strikes that were also off center. After cleaning and lubing it a bunch, plus a light deburring it has had 50rds through it so far with no troubles.
It has a 2 piece bolt body, the rear of which is just added weight as it's blowback operated.
I think where they mate up had burrs that caused them to bind up and pulled the bolt face out of alignment with the case head.

I have limited experience with the kel-tec..
IMO
pro:slim and and for inexpensive
Con: warranty only on original owner and they do sting (esp the .380) of course seems like everty time I have shot one it's been cold out...LOL.
IF i go .380 im going to spend a little more and get the LCP it seems more refined. However I may pick up a 9mm if the price is right

Just my opinion...

I have a P-11 and a P3AT. Both have been trouble free. No jams, no misfires. Dealer warned me that they have a break in period. He suggested 100 rounds through the gun before carrying everyday. I also did a fluff and buff on both. Great guns.

If you are looking to avoid the sting of the P3AT avoid the LCP. I shot them side by side and I found the LCP to hurt the hand more. If you want a small gun and are looking at 9MM give the Taurus Slim a try. I recently bought mine and am very happy. A lot less kick than the P3AT, LCP or even the P9 Kel-Tec. Also whereas you mentioned the warranty, Taurus horors it's lifetime warranty if your the first owner or the 100th owner. Lifetime of the gun not the ownership.

That being said, I like my P3AT a lot. It does sting but it's not a gun you shoot a lot. It is a pocket gun designed to be shot little and shot up close and personal. If you ever do need to use it in a self defense situation your hand will hurt a lot less that the person who's belly is on the receiving end.

My only experience with a Kel Tec is my second generation P-32 that I bought new about three years ago. No fluf & buff, just cleaned it when I got it and now clean it about every 300-400 rounds. After 1,500 or more rounds, never a FTF or FTE. Only use ball ammo and believe that I have tried every manufacturer that produces .32acp ammo. Some are more accurate and some are dirty, but all work.

Although I own many different pistols & revolvers both big and small, the P-32 is carried the most. Even when I carry another handgun, usually the .32 is also in my pocket holster. When I go to the outdoor range to shoot some of my guns, my walk to the target to replace/examine a target always includes a P-32 magazine shot at 7-10 yards at a used target. After doing this as often as I can, I am totally comfortable that if ever needed, the Kel Tec will do its job. I would not hesitate to purchase another Kel Tec product.

I have been using KelTec for close to ten years.

The worst problem I have had was when I lost my
base plate in the woods.

I emailed KelTec and they sent me a new one
and no charge for shipping or anything else.

Happy Shootin,

Tabdog

a good friend of mine has carried a p11 as a bug for years. And without fail everytime we go and qualify someone gives him crap about his little pos gun. We shoot with alot of different agencies and everyone carries something different so you can imagine the competitiveness. In the meantime he still quals every 3 months and outshoots many folks that are fielding more expensive weapons. (including me).

I'm thinking about buying the 9mm to use as a back up to my 9mm Sig 239.

I like the idea of it's size, weight, price and the fact that it it's already ugly and I won't worry about nicks and dings on the finish from all day wear and tear. But most important it does need to be reliable and go bang when the the trigger is pulled and not fall apart. I think I will try to rent and test one before I buy.
