nikon pro staff

looking for some advise.
i recently bought a rem 798 in 300 win mag. now looking to top it off. the scope im looking at is a Nikon 3x9x40 prostaff PDC. have read some good and bad things on BPS.com and from Cabelas. but most of the were just quick 1 or 2 line sentences. looking for a good review.

my questions is do any of the men/women on here have one or had in the past. and is this a good scope to put on a mag rifle?

MidwayUSA - Nikon Prostaff Rifle Scope 3-9x 40mm BDC Reticle Matte
Here are 3 more reviews for you. I like mine. It was on a 7mm mag for only about 200 rounds. I didn't like the 700 adl as it was only printing average groups. It is now on a .308, maybe 900 rounds, not a magnum, but has held up. Very clear and good light transmission. Well above all others I looked through in the price range at BPS. I do have a sightron S2 with hunter hold over reticule I paid $199 for that is clearer and brighter. But that is it in this price range that is better IMHO.
Blessings

I needed a new scope for my savage 99. Had a Simmons 44 mag on it ...didn`t work out. Had a Weaver 3x on, to weak for my old eyes.
So I looked around for something I thought would look good, was priced right and would do my 99 justice.
Went to my local BPS and looked at several I had researched. Settled on the Nikon ProStaff, 3-9x-44. One feature I really liked was the little projection on the power selector ring. Reason, I hunt in an area where cold weather is the norm and this would make turning thr ring easier. Plus it was clear as a bell. Plus, PBS was the cheapest place I could find to buy it.
Check it out. Do your homework.
Went to the range to sight it in and when the smoked cleared my 99 is
"on the money." For me that`s dead on at 100 yds. What a difference a good, clear scope makes.
The long and short of it is ....I`m buying another one to put on my other savage 99.
Lots of scopes out there and the price range varies greatly but for my money, Nikon, ProStaff is just fine.

Dam(N), went pass 3 lines.

bug/sav..
thanks for the info
i have looked at a lot anywere from th 65$ to the 800$ price range and i cant justify spending top dollor for a scope (just because of the name on the box.) it's not like im going to be shooting 1,000 yards everytime. where i hunt in NW PA its cold and im planing on taking this gun to wyoming next fall so its probly going to be cold. and theres the chance of a 3-500 yard shot. . on my other deer rifles a 270 and 308 i have a 75$ and 100$ scope there nice but i just want a good up grade one on this gun.
thanks again

sav.250 its ok that you went pass 3 lines i enjoy all the good info

Don't know how the BDC reticle works. But I have a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 with just a regular duplex and I love it. I'm getting ready to buy another for my other deer rifle. For the money this is the best scope you can get. I don't think that their is enogh difference in some of the 400-500 dollar scope to justify not going with one of these.

i have a prostaff with BDC on a .270 it's almost as clear as the elite 4200 i have on a '06. for the money its been the best functioning scope i've ever owned. i still love that 4200 (the rain coating on the lens has helped me take a animal twice), but i'd feel just as good buying anouther nikon

I had a Nikon that I got for a 300 Mag. Loved it. Had to sell both rifle and scope for some much needed cash. I will def buy another Nikon next time around.
