Usually I have my PT92 on my nightstand with the .410 on the GF's side of the bed (loaded with six 3x000 loads). They go in the safe when we are not home, but as soon as one of us gets home one of our guns comes out. Right now all I have is ball practice ammo in the PT92 until I can actually find some freaking ammo!
Mx, that's awesome!

I use to live in the Wash. DC suburbs for almost 30 years where home invasions by 3-5 bad guys was almost a daily occurance. pretty much anymore the AR stays in the gun safe till range practice, and the 1911 and mossy 12 sit bedside.

Usually its a Colt 1911 loaded with .45 hollowpoints, as I am most familiar with it and can handle one half awake even when knocked out with Nyquil safely....
Right now, its a Beretta 92, as I have been toting the Colt with me.....The 92 is loaded with silver tips.

I have a Killer Attack Beagle as my first line of defence (unless they come in and give him food then he would be their best friend). If they get through him then I have my 357 by my bed. My 45 is in a small finger safe also next to my bed. I have an 870 loaded in my safe.

A German Shepherd and a Ruger GP100 .357 magnum. No safety to remember/mess with while sleepy, no springs to wear out, can't jam, and in theory, could be left there for years. Could possibly deafen myself with the muzzle blast however, lol.
I just worry about springs wearing out over time in semi auto mags and shotgun tubes, and I don't want to mess with it. I keep a semi auto in another part of the house, but I switch out the ammo and mags now and then to give the springs a break.
Have a couple of 870's around, easy enough to load up quickly if need be. Being divorced with no kids is handy sometimes, lol.
Here's a good one, depending on where you live, the SKS. You can leave those stripper clips loaded for years, and quickly load up an SKS if needed. But I don't recommend rifles at all for home defense unless you live in the country... you can easily shoot right through the walls and hit your family members or even neighbors.

I have my Kimber 1911 next to the bed. My wife keeps our Browning Hi Power on her night stand. I have a Rem 870 HD with way more ammo in and on it than necessary. If I have to open the safe, the bad guys are in real trouble.

Max isn't a gun. He's 155 lbs. of Bull Mastif. He hears everything. You literally can't see him at night. He doesn't bark. And he'll dismember anything that is foolish enough to enter the house at night. Hopefully he wouldn't get shot, but...it's his job and he takes it seriously. I back him up with an 870 and a Ruger 357 racked and loaded next to the bed. The wife (hopefully) backs me up with her Glock 9mm.

We almost have a tooth coming through the gums so he will be even more viable soon! And well, the dog may be a pushover... But I won't say for sure... HAHA! I think he may have been abused before he came to me because anytime I raise my voice to him he cowers down more than any other dog I have had before. He can be very skittish, but he does have one heck of a mean bark when he wants to!

Keep in mind, I live alone; no children, or idiotic/immature roommates to contend with...
I keep a Winchester 1300 Defender shotgun loaded with Federal 00 Buck, and my DPMS M4gery at bedside (one on either side). I also keep a .45 ACP Taurus 24/7 under the pillow, Taurus Judge loaded with .45 LC Glasers in my computer desk, a Springfield XD 9mm subcompact in a kitchen cabinet, and a Czech VZOR 70 (.32 auto) in the linen closet in the hall.
When I leave, the 24/7 usually goes with me, although I sometimes change it out for the Judge...

| Benelli M2 tactical loaded with OO Buck within reach, a Sig Sauer P229 Equinox (40) in the nightstand, a Sig Sauer P232 (380) in the wife's nightstand ... and the rest, only I know.
... the retarded dog goes without saying. As little as a fart will get her attention.

Taurus 66 .357 in my bedroom closet.Flashlight and Speed loader ready to go on top of my dresser with .38's. I'm also looking to pick up a mossberg 500a at the next show (2 weeks). My wife keeps asking for a stun-gun to keep behind the front door, so maybe I'll grab one of those too.

Right now, its a Beretta 92, as I have been toting the Colt with me.....The 92 is loaded with silver tips. | Good choice. When I was single, I kept a tuned .45 Springfield M1911A1 with me day and night as a carry gun and beside the bed. I carried a Colt 1911 Officer's Model during summer time polo shirt weather due to familiarity and like design. The 1911 design is forever wired into my brain as an extension of myself. Unfortunately, it isn't wired into my wife's brain. She is familiar with, and working on proficiency with, her stainless .38 special Smith & Wesson medium frame Model 64 w/3" barrel and smooth rosewood grips. That's what she keeps on her side of the bed. As I mentioned earlier, a Browning BPS 12 Gauge w/26" barrel loaded with #7 shot is the only long gun kept out of the vault at night. I like the BPS because of its top tang safety which is easier to use in darkness. I'm going to try some of the new home defense loads consisting of a .65 lead ball and six 00 buck shot per load. Having taught firearms at the academy, I know what full power 00 Buck loads and slugs will do inside a wood and dry board house; they will go through walls, doors and closets and keep on going into other rooms. |

Here are my 2 bedside guns .
Pistol - Cz-75 sp-01 tactical 20 rounds of 9mm Hollow point , with a stramlight tlr-2 laser and high lumen light combo. This is one of the lightest shooting pistols i have ever shot no recoil and acurate as hell. I also installed a buffer technologies CZ buffer so the already low recoil is now negliable .
Shotgun- NightHawk Tactical remington 870 with Collapsible Stock / Hogue Pistol Grip / Quick Disconnect Sling Swivel
Receiver Mounted Picatinny Rail - Forend Picatinny Rail and Barrel Band
Surefire Z2 Combat Light - Tritium Night Sight - 2 Shot Extended Breaching Device
also has the hydraulic recoil buffer by ITT Industries. They are rated at a 70% recoil reduction when the stock is extended to full length. This makes hard recoiling buckshot feel like a 410 !!!
and lastly it has the Vang Comp System is well known in the law enforcement community. It is a patented method where the forcing cone is lengthened, and the barrel is back-bored. In addition, the barrel can be ported to reduce recoil.
