Bought a Remington 1903A3 dated 1943 last time I was home. It's in mint condition! I am not sure if even want to fire it or if I should just keep it in my safe. Unfortunately no pics

Oxford,

Nice looking weapon. How does it shoot. I haven't made it to the range yet with mine.

Shot it several times in about 2003 and it was a nail driver...but the steel butt plate and I didn't get along. Liked it enough to use it deer hunting...but failed to take a deer. Since then I'm using a rem 700 30.06... but the 03A3 and I will never part.

My father in law bought it through a NRA liquidation program back in 1961 for around $18.75, and I eventually inherited the beauty.

3-1943 barreled 03A3 Remington came home with me last night. ME gauged just under 1 and it's in fantastic shape!! Also has a funky front sight shroud that I hadn't seen before.
Now to get out and shoot it!!

I have a front sight hood like that on my '03. I believe they came out in the '20s. I see '03s in war photos with and without them.

...Well, since we're bragging....

Actually, there is one I'm particularly proud of. I bought this one a couple of months back, thinking I had bought a nice "service" M1903. After looking it over, what I HAD gotten was a very rare pre-WWI National Match 1903 from 1915! A friend told me this is one of exactly 11 known. to have survived!
There is some wear in the upper band and visible barrel, but the ME is LESS than 1 and the bore is immaculate!! Except for some dried grease, since cleaned off, this baby is BEAUTIFUL!!

1943 Smith-Corona '03A3.

The original furniture rotted away in our basement while I was growing up.
It was my late father's intention to build a deer rifle so the receiver is drilled & tapped for a now obsolete scope mount.
I got some iron sights and it's accurate as heck, so I'm leaving it as-is.

I have one made in 1937 with a star barrel. I got it from my father when he passed on. My mother got it for him as a present in 1954. It is my goto hunting rifle.

If you have one that has a serial no. below 800,000 the we double heat treated and are not safe to shoot. some have had the actoins break. Be very carefull ofthem.Al

I'm gettin' in here late but I bought a 03A3 Remington yesterday.
Where is the date at? I'm new to 03 and 03A3's. Mine looks good
and has got a mirror bore. I got it for $200.
