CETME Handguards

Hey guys. Quick question. I was just adoring my CETME like we all do from time to time and I was looking at the pin in the handguard.

It's a pretty tight squeeze where that pin is, and I couldn't see well in there.

But anyway, is the pin welded in there? I was trying to remove the handguard out of boredom and I was pushing it for about 10 minutes before I thought to check to see if it was welded.

And if it is, I guess there's no getting it off, huh?

If you have the plastic HK handguards then it should just be a push pin. Try using a hammer and punch if its that tight. The push pins in my but stock are so tight I have to use a hammer and punch. If you have the original wood furniture then its a screw.

The CETME handguard screw goes into a captive nut - and it can be a PITA to get back in when the handguard is removed.

Yeah, I tried the hammer thing and I think it's welded for some odd reason

The thing that keeps running through my mind is that it's impossible for it to be welded though. It's such a tight space that it doesn't make sense and this damn thing just refuses to budge.

Post a pic if you can. I've never seen this problem before. If it is the push pin try a hammer and punch.

Sorry I haven't posted in so long guys. A lot of things have come up, but about those pictures. The space is too tight to take a picture in. I'll try to show you what I mean through a diagram pic though.
