CatFish in MI

Hey,
Any body got info on where to go for cats or bullhead in my neck of the woods? Can't find anything other than general stuff on the web and the DNR site is sad. Anybody help!! I wants to hunt El GatoFeesh.

Ya, me too! I'm on Da U.P. and would like some tasty bullheads.

Channel cats are pretty universal these days in most waters of the U.S. try cutbait on 2 or 3 odd circle hooks bounced off the bottom in 15-25 ft during spring early summer at a slow slow troll, patience is a virtue there are other tactics but this works well for us here.

I'd try pretty much anyplace with still water, or slow moving rivers. Backwater areas are usually great. Catfish can live just about anywhere. Nothing like camping out overnight, and running trotlines, jug lines, or limb lines with your buddies! Must have cold beer and campfire for the full effect.

I have had good luck on bullheads and some catfish on Lake Dubonnet (Mud Lk. Flooding) which is southwest of Traverse City. Actually it is on the southwest side of Long Lk. I used chicken livers for bait. You have to enter through national forrest roads so check out a map of the area.

Just below any dam where the water is calm and shallow.Throw a weighted chicken (dead of course, and strong if possible) out and wait 'til dark. sam.

We caught a mess of bullheads in Alpena at the ANG base there. Folks at the bait store thought we were nuts. Explained we were from Illinois, they understood after that. Had a great fish fry by the river.
