As a minimum 250rds of 00 buckshot 100 slugs and 200 #6 shot.
I'm not much of a shotgun person but believe in having one decent qualiity 12ga pump shotgun around.

I think something like 5-shots per day would not be an unreasonable amount... that would be 150 rounds for a month or 6 boxes. |
This is probably the best perspective/answer I have read on any of the threads regarding this sort of matter. My user name is tclu1308 and I approve 22rimfire's message.
That said, I must confess I racked up about 1000 points on my Dicks Scorecard last year, and the dutch oven, the air mattress and the 2 boxes of clays only accounted for about 90 of them. Someone else in this forum (I cannot for the life of me recall who) once suggested buying one box of shells whenever they shop somewhere that sells them. In my book, that is a good piece of advice. Sometimes I buy 3 or 4.

| There is no such thing as haveing too much of ANY kind of Ammo , or Guns for that matter. If TSHTF , you can always barter with some of it. JUST DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHERE OR HOW MUCH YOU HAVE. If crap starts hitting the wall , they might steal it and for sure would kill you over it. By the way, PLEASE Folks, dont post how much or what you have on here. See if you can find some of the Remington Game Loads. Get some of the #6 shot.
#6 shot is the All around shot and will take a dove to a turkey, of course squirrels and rabbits.
I'm partial to the .22. It will do the same with small game at a much cheaper price. And a box of 50 cartridges is almost as small as one 12 guage shell. And cost about a dollar and a half for the cheap stuff.

After which you go back to base/camp/wherever, eat & rest up, then get more ammo the next day? In a SHTF situation, there won't be any going to the store for more, what you get is what you already have.
