O'K. I'm possibly going to trade my 1943 Sako M-39 M\N for a KP-89. I've shot several P-series guns (mostly P-90's and P-85's), but have never owned a Ruger self-shucker. Any opinions\warnings on the KP-89 that I should be aware of? FWIW, the M-39 is valued @ $250-$300, so it seems like a fair trade to me.
I had one. The pros are it took absolutely any kind of ammo and ate them without any feeding problems, I liked the sights, and accuracy was OK. The bad part is the trigger pull was way too long and sloppy. It was hard to get good groups without a pistol rest. Possibly something could have been done to help the trigger, I chose to trade in the pistol.

I've had several Rugers. P85, 89, 94, 95.
I liked the P89 as a range gun. I still have my P94.
Heavy enough to be nice and stable. Mine have been very accurate.

The Ruger has great reliability and sevice life. The bad part is they do not fit my hand at all, feels like holdind a 2"X4" in my hand. If the gun fits you then by all means trade.

Toolman, as you are fully aware, in the end, it's your mil. surp rifle you'll no longer have. If you think you won't ever regret trading it, then go for it. But if you feel, you just might regret it, if even the slightest, then I say don't trade.
If you really want a P89, just buy one, there are a few out there.
I agree with Glockmeister, toolman. It will be a lot easier to find a P-series pistol than another milsurp as good as the one you propose to trade. Save up for the pistol and buy one, don't trade your M39.
Hey SGTKnuckles. Thanks for the link. I can always use another search engine for places to window shop. And well, if I find one I like, and have the money for it, then buy also. lol
