post shtf... looters

I Have been thinking about this for some time and wanted some opinions.

So, in the event of a grid-down shtf scenario there would most likely be quite a bit of looting, especially after the masses have consumed their own short supplies then ravaged every grocery and hardware store shelf. Next would be residential looting.
Now, I already have close to 3 months worth of food, water, and supplies so (logistically speaking) it would be difficult for me and my family to leave. I have thought about posting something outside our house telling looters that we are armed and to skip our home. However if I do that; than they could come back armed and more dangerous. Now, if I don't post anything they will try to break in anyway, and my family and I will still be stuck in a dangerous situation. Any comments or input?

one of two things... tape off the front of your house with "infecious virus" warnings and house "quarintine" stickers or just pile the bodies in the front yard from the last looters and people might get the warning... just a thought...

I think a post shtf will end you up in jail but as it progress'es the sky is the limit on protecting family and property.
My choice of defending my small estate would be a lot of Buck shot fire followed with rifle fire.
Haveing a couple Hundred attack Ginny Pigs would also be nice to have around too !

Possibly try the old, tried and true method, wound several of them, takes more people to drag their a**es away, then you start picking the "leftovers' off. When the shtf starts, make every round count, when they start coming in from a distance, use the firearms with the scopes and bi-pods, that's what they're there for! It's going to be hell when it starts, just have a loved one keep a push broom handy, to push the empty brass out of the way! Then pray your ammo supply doesn't run low, until you can reload some more, praying will be your best option too.

True. However we're not relying on our supplies alone. Self sufficient living is something that we are trying to adapt into our life everyday. I'm not saying that hunting, fishing, gardening, raising livestock, etc. will last us forever in troubled times but I'd like to think that it will help. We do have back up plans for our back up plans.

I'm thinkin Vlad the terrible....8 foot poles sharpened on one end driven stern to stem, planted at the end of my driveway to greet the hoards. Hopefully they will pick another castle....if not, additional poles shall be secured.....

Things have come a long way from hangin' the bad guys in a public area 'before' they got into town, to a (Katrina)spray painted warning on a piece of plywood on the front lawn.
Nothing says 'stay away' better than a hangin' corpse on a nearby streetlight with a looter/pickpocket/whatever sign around his neck. And better to keep your specific location anonymous(w/scoped bullet of justice).
After that length of time, starving unfortunates will have lost a lot of will and be begging for that bullet instead of the misery anyway. At that point what would be more humane anyway?

Always remember the element of surprise... is the best when you face an unknown opponent, and do not know his strength or willingness to forgo basic human rights of life. In his mind his life is worth more than your....

This is part of the reason several of us are working together to setup a SHTF safe area. will have land for farming and for raising food, along with several of us that are hunters and survivalists. We should be at least 30 strong with a very wide range of knowledge to get us though the hard times.

OMG! it's a militia! I wouldn't let that information get out if I could help it, because you know that's what the media will be saying. And the next thing you know, you have BATF snooping around, looking for a way to make a case, or just inventing a case, like they have done in the past.
