Can anybody recommend a reputable M1 Garand restoration service near Denver? Mine is a good rifle, but it needs to be tuned up and I'd really like the metal reparkerized. I think I can handle the woodwork of fitting/finishing the new Boyd's stock set.

Finally got some photos of the old girl! What can anybody tell me from these photos? All I know is, it's a 1943 Springfield, with a replacement barrel, and it shoots good. I'd like for it to be prettier, but I love her just the way she is.

As far as your stock is concerned, I think with a little cleanup it will look great. I just put a boyds on mine and the wood is on the dark side, unlike yours. Here,s a pic of mine. I finished with the assy last week.

I hear ya, but I've already bought the Boyd's set. It's a dark mother too, looks like it was just dipped in the stain, but I figure that by the time I get it all sanded down to the same dimensions as my original stock, that all the stained areas that will show will be sanded off. My original stock has some boogered-up areas where the metal parts fit, or otherwise I would just refinish it. I think somebody did once before, there's no stamps or cartouches anywhere on it.
