I've been tying flies over the winter, and now it's getting closer to the time where I start cleaning and dressing flylines, oiling reels, polishing ferrules and the like. Anybody else getting fish fever ??

Kings would be nice. I walked 2 miles Saturday morning through 8 inches of fresh snow to catch 1 little 14 inch rainbow. Well worth it, but Kings would be excellent!

I like to fish only if someone sets my pole up for me.I'll caugh the fish but I don't gut it or cook it.The last fish I cooked was dry like a leather shoe. The biggest fish I got was a rainbow trout 3 1/2 pounds.
WOW !! A 3 1/2 lb 'bow is pretty respectable cgo !! Did you ctach it it the Arkansas River?? Want to try a foolproof way to cook trout and bass filets ?? Place each filet on a large piece of foil. Season how you like and add 1/2 a ice cube, and a small pat of butter(you could add a slice of lemon too). Fold the foil up into a very tight packet with no air in it. Make sure the edges are tightly crimped close. Now for the fun part. Put it in your dishwasher and run it in a regular cycle !! No oven heat, no greasy frying !! No 'fishy" smell to linger for hours !! Fish comes out "just" cooked and super moist !!

'Bout 3 weeks to go until trout season. Got the bamboo fly rods all dolled up, flies tied, reels oiled, new vest....maybe I should go buy a license.
Got a spot picked out on Hat Creek (premium NorCal trout stream) that is so out of the way I might actually be able to fish without snagging another fisherman.
Gotta wait and see if the runoff is too much to fish the upper reaches of the Sacramento.
Either way it's rainbow panfried in bacon drippings soon. Can't wait.
