Proud new owner of a .40 XDm

A .40 XDm followed me home the other day. I must say that I am very impressed and pleased with the purchase, and look forward to some good range time with this thing.

I have noticed a small problem however. Sometimes when I chamber a federal hydro-shok, and then drop the mag, and try to move the slide back to eject the chambered round. The slide seems to hang up a bit, and I have to give it several attempts and getting the slide back. Anybody else experiencing this problem?

Slaw Dog - If the problem doesn't go away after you have worked the action 40 or 50 times, I would have it checked or call Springfield. Shouldn't be doing that.

welcome to G&G and congrats on the new XDm , I know several folks that are XDm owners and this is the first problem I have ever heard for the gun , all reports say it's an awesome handgun. I'll ask around and see if anybody has experienced the same.

I thought I was having the same sort of problem with my XDm 9. Turns out that you have to be sure and have the grip safety depressed in order for the slide to release.

That may be all there is to it.

The slide on an XD is stiff as hell for the first few hundred rounds and then it smooths out.

Does this happen on all the XD's or is it just the XDm's?? Does that happen because it's new??

Welcome to Gun and Game and to the proud group if Springfield Owners. I am sure you will love it here and love your XDM as well.

Have you shot the gun or just cycled the ammo through by hand? New guns can be sticky at first. Shoot a few boxes of ammo through it and see if that doesn't fix the problem. Congrats of a great purchase.

xdm 40

I just got my XDM 40 and I am shooting factory ammo 155 JHP. I have put about 200 rounds through it and I am getting 1 to 5 jams every clip. The round is hitting the top of the chamber before it is linning up with the chamber and it jams. It looks like it is going in at to steep of an angle. It clears easly I just have to pull the slide back just a little then the shell goes in. I have read these guns never jam. Anyone else have this problem? Other than this problem it is the nicest handling gun I have ever had.
