Anyone Hear anything New About The Hi-Point Model 4595?

The last time I corresponded with Hi-Point,the word was that the .45 ACP version of the Model 995 carbine would reach the market in the first quarter of 2009. But so far, apart from pictures from the SHOT Show, I haven't seen or read anything new. None of the dealers who carry Hi-Points around here seem to know when (or should that be if?) the Model 4595 is going to be offered for sale.

The last time I asked (six months ago), they told me that there were two concerns.

First, of course, was the concern about who would win the election. There was an overtone of, "If Obama wins, will he and his fellow Democrats try to pass a gun ban even worse than what Slick Willy did?" They obviously for business reasons don't want to tool up for a gun that the Obamists and their fellow kool-aid drinkers would promptly outlaw and then have to eat those costs.

The second had to do with machine time. The demand for Model 995s and Model 4095s was so high, the company was not able to schedule machine time to produce the new .45 ACP version of the carbine. According to the local gun dealers, it's still very high. Lots of people want the Model 995 particularly as a home defense gun.

Well, as we all know the wrong guy won the election. But so far he and his fellow socialist Democrats have not made a move against the Second Amendment rights of honest American citizens. Doesn't mean he and they might not in the future if they think they could get away with it, but so far, all is quiet on that front.

The machine time issue is pressing, and the Model 995 is immensely popular and by all reports reliable; but one thing I do know is that businesses need to expand their product lines or go stale. People have been calling for a .45 ACP version of that handy little carbine for anyway 8 years now. It exists at least in prototype form. It's a proven design. If I were the head of Hi-Point, I'd certainly be trying to get at least some machine time for it, even if only enough to run a limited edition of, say, 1000 guns to test the waters in the marketplace. (I'd also be talking to ATI to see about building some kind of a stock that, with the additions of the muzzle brake Hi-Point makes for the other two carbines, it bore a passing resemblance to the good ol' Tommy Gun. But that's for later.)

So has anyone heard anything? Or is the Model 4595 never going to make it into the hands of folks like me who have been asking for it for years and years and years?

I've had my heart set on the 4595 ever since I heard of it. But I'll settle for the 4095 to beat an empending ban.

And as far as the DNC pushing for a gun ban, it's coming. There jsut too busy 'fixing' the economy by making us a 'red state' (and I dont mean the type they talk about on election night).

Is it wrong of me to wish this 'economic downturn' to continue so the DNC keeps putting off the ban?
