Bug Out Medica Kit

I don't know if anyone has asked this before but I keep seeing threads on here for Bug Out Bags. What about Bug Out Medical Kits? This past weekend we had an incident at our house that required me to search for a bandage. I decided that we needed to put all of our medical supplies in one place so I got one of those small clear storage containers and put everything in one spot. That got me thinking about having medical supplies in a SHTF situation. Here in FL. we sometimes have to leave because of hurricanes. So I was thinking it may be a god idea to have a back with medical supplies to take with us. My question is what would you put in it. I am a trained Paramedic and I have used medical supplies in real life or death situations. Knowing me I would go way overboard stocking a Bug Out Medical Kit so I just wanted to see what other people thought they would pack.

Besides the basic personal FAK I carry whenever afield, I also have a GI Tri-fold medic bag with more serious medical gear. It goes along on any major outing or a BO run if necessary. Can take care of anything up to minor surgery.

If you are a medic you know what to get, way better than I do. I wouldnt worry about going overboard unless it is too heavy to carry. Remember its better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it. I'd say the same principle probably applies to med equipment. Having said that, I would say at least get a basic 1st aid kit and add compression bandages, quik clot, and a soft splint.

huntinfamily, you have a better understanding then any of us... put enough for you and your family into a small duffle bag and then any essentials you could buy over the counter... my wife is an emt and we are slowly getting a med bag together, she has a small bag and a small surgical kit for just incase... ive got a list of what she wants so its easier then guessing... make sure everyone in the family(those who can) are cpr cert. and basic first aid cert., thats a start...

tampons... not the plug-and-play version with a string but the pad style... "blood absorbance"... thats what they were made for, they are sanitary and u can get them unsented... easily packed with some gauze and adhesive tape, quick clot if ya have it... ready to go

In my Tri-fold GI Medic Bag:
A few GI wound bandages, suture and surgical kit, snake bite kit, a variety of bandages and bandaids, anti-bacterial ointment, Betadine solution, LED flashlight (much longer battery life!), First Aid handbook, and other goodies.
If I'm with a 'team', the 'medic' gets to carry this bag.
I am not medic-trained, but I have taken care of small wounds on myself - serious bone-deep cuts, sprains and even a minor broken bone. Having a very high pain-tolerance has really come in handy!
