Swiss bayonets

I don't have Swiss milsurp, yet, so I can't tell by looking at them. I stopped in an old tool store to get a replacment ratchet and saw a big box of bayos. They all had scabbards and belt holders. The guy at the counter said they were Swiss and from the mid to late 1950's. Don't know if they would fit a K-31 or other Swiss milsurp. They were in great shape and 9 1/2" long and $40. Wish I had a K-31 to bring by and test fit one. I'll go by with my camera if someone wants me to. They were double sided with a W above a serial # near the tang. May turn out to be nothing, but if it was a box of Finn bayos...I'd have bought the whole thing.

Hah, too bad you're in MO. I'd love to take my rifle by too, but that would be a trip.

Bayo's for the K-31 are 95.00 and probably shipping to boot. the one you saw for 40.00 fits the 1957-on rifles and I have seen them for as little as 19.95 The older bayonets fit the K-31 I had the 1889/1911 and it fit. Shotgun news and ebay have bayonets for the Swiss rifles quite often.

The only two bayonets the are correct for a K-31 are the 1914 Sawback, with the bulbous tip, and the 1918, that doesn't have a fuller.

swissrifles.com is a great site, but it seems to be down at the moment, the forums are working and they have a lot of knowlegible people Gusian, Tacfoley, Carlosdiopter just to name a few. Lots of info on bayo's, troop tag info, and production numbers and s/n info to determine your guns year.

My name is SCHMIDT SHOOTER.

THE 1918

OOPS! Your right, Its for a model 1889. I guess I should have looked a little closer. But it does look alot like the model 1918 boyo.

K31 bayo and Pics

I just bought one today for the model 1889, and it fits my K31 anyways. Not too concerned but maybe some day I'll get a correct K31 bayo. I may fashion my own frog for the bayonet. We shall see. The guy only had two and they were both fullered and the 1889 pattern. So I took the cheaper of the two, and I'm hoping $100 isn't too much. But it looks like it came in a chromed, or stainless scabbard? Is that original? Will the 1957 patterns also fit K31s?

The last two pics are of the frog I made myself since this one didn't have one when I bought it. Looks like it will serve the purpose just fine. I had an old black strap from something laying around, so I glued and stitched it on. The stupid clothes pins slipped while I left it to dry and made it go crooked. Owell I guess. It will still work. I didn't have any fancy brass pieces or rivets, but the little black strap ought to hold it there.

Any idea on what this bayonet is for? I would post a pic but ebay won't let me copy it.

Thats the 1957 pattern. Its Swiss, but I was asking if it would fit a K31. Other than that, I am not sure what it fits besides the STGW 57. According to millwright's link, it was issued with the STGW 57. Here is a google search link: Modern Firearms - Stgw. 57 / Sig 510 Assault Rifle Looks like thats the culprit.

No it will not fit the 1899/1911 will fit but is not the correct one. the saw back will fit but cost a ton of money. As I said shotgun news has had the correct ones for 95.00 and as for the 1889/1911 100.00 is not a bad price I sold mine to a collector and he thought 95.00 was a bargin.

Dang Zeph, you just beat me to it. I was waiting for the stupid page to load so I could verify in fact it was for the STGW 57. Well played. I'm happy with the one I have. It fits my K31. I found another K31 at the gun show today, and the guy let me try it on to see if it would really fit a K31. So all was good. Pretty good price on that K31 too. I should have bought it. He had it priced for $165, but I bet he would have taken $150. I saw it last weekend at the other gun show, but opted for the cheaper one.
