My latest deer

Shot about a year ago. Jan 1st of 2008. no i didnt get to shoot one last year. trophy hunting is hard. Its and 8-point. weighed 197lbs. had 20 inch main beams. Shot in south alabama near Troy. Its my biggest one yet. I was using my .270. I forget the brand. never really looked. I got it as a gift.
These pictures were taken before i lost like 50 lbs. i dont look like that anymore. but that is my gf in the pic with me!

It was a really close shot. walked about 20 yards from my tree stand. Still took 3 shots to bring him down. He ran about 200 yards. that was fun pulling him out

Congrats. Nice deer for Bama. Your 270 looks like an HR Ultra Hunter, but they don't list it in 270??

As long as the ammo looks in the elastic band it could be a 25-06.

Great Deer M260gt !!!

thanks everyone!! yeah it was awesome. theres nothing like the rush of hunting. My gf was in the stand on that one. it was the first time shes been hunting. ive been huntiing since i was 9.
well i shot it a tad too far back, it woulda died on its own but i waited like an hour and got down and started looking for it. My gf and i split up and she actually came up on it and whistled me over and it was just laying there. then when i started walking closer it got up and started to run...so i shot it again. in the neck/shoulder. it fell again so i started walking up on it again..thing got up again and tried to run..then i ended the deal.

as far as my gun..i know for a fact its a .270, i asked my dad since he gave it to me. and its A New England firearm .270.

wow my gun does look like the Ultra Hunter rifle from H&R. Good call man. But its New England firearms. called the handi-rifle. i just looked and they dont carry it anymore. its a single shot. really accurate and a really nice gun all around. But im ready for a new one! .308 preferably, remington 700 SPS im thinking.

308 is an excellent choice.

The Rem 700 SPS is a good rifle but the stock is cheap. The stock can be replaced with a very good stock for a few hundred bucks. Keep shopping around and find something that suits your needs and fits your budget. The 700 is very easy to customize when funds become available.

Marlin XL-7, Mossberg, Savage, are good choices.
