Is it often hard finding people with whom to shoot?

This does Not refer to any gun range.
Once had a neighbor down the street go to the river, but all of these guys have young kids.

Still looking forward to shooting with 'Mike 82', down there.

My friend who has an SKS lives in Jacksonville so I've been trying to get him to come up here since we have a good size piece of land with some woods behind us, perfect for plinking around. Don't know many people here, especially those with guns as a hobby.

I'd also like to visit there as well since him and his father-in-law go to ranges in the Jacksonville area. Been wanting to try that AR and semi-auto AK-74 he has.

Seems to be a common problem. I got to the point I said the hell with it and just go by myself. I try and bring my son, but sometimes, an adult just needs another adult to hang with ya' know?

But also, lately, I haven't been going myself even out of the need to conserve ammo.

Everybody I know always seeme to have "something else to do" or doesn't have the time.
Yep, GlockM, you are absolutely right. Sometimes an adult needs another adult.
I usually end up going alone.
Heh, heh, let's see what happens when I get my range set up.

Glock, do you reload? Set your stores aside and allocate a couple hundred rounds for your shooting and reload it over and over. Conserve and shoot at the same time with no loss.

I like to go out and shoot and plink but it's not something I want to do very often.

I have went out with friends in the past and to be honest I've not found any of them that put safty first.

So when I do go out and shoot I either go by myself or on a rare occation with my son.

Don't take this wrong, other than 22 ammo I feel like I'm wasting ammo, so shooting my centerfire rifles is only done before hunting season to check zero's.

Shotguns I may shoot more often but not often enough...A.H

I don't have too much trouble finding someone to shoot with but I always have to furnish everything because they aren't really into guns. I end up being the armorer and safety/range officer so I can't just enjoy the shooting. I don't really mind but it would be nice to meet up with folks who brought some experience and equipment of their own to the table.

I must be lucky. I live on 60 acres, but I'm 15 minutes from Buffalo. I have friends that come out and shoot all the time. Also, my neighbor (the one and only on my street, also owns a MN, and so do some of his buddies.

There's a gunsmith about 5 mins away with a huge stash of MN's that I've been wanting to take a look at, but I know how thats going to end up, another missing $100 and I'll be on the couch.

My land is all hay fields so I don't shoot anything more than a .22, but there is a great public range not 10 minutes from my house.

My main problem is keeping ammo and cleaning swabs in stock!

I also will never hesitate to go out by myself. I usually run into someone at the range and at least have a friendly conversation, if not a few laughs.

i live on 6 acres, a backyard of about 100yds with high hill further back. i do not know any other shooters. my grown daughters are not into guns. so its just me i cannot shoot rifles/shotguns any more, nor can i hit my barn with a handgun if i was standing inside it, wasn't always that way.

my bud from childhood who now lives in AZ has the same problem...no one to play with.

I've always found it easier to find people to shoot than to shoot with.

I usually go with my brother and we have fun together. We tried bringing out a few other friends but all of them seem to have a lack of safety and just want to screw around and shoot in a 360 degree circle, which is dangerous. We tried giving them rules and showing them how to shoot but we pretty much gave up. I either take my brother or I go alone.

Interesting.
ArkansasH.: Don't worry about offending anybody: now and then using some ammo seems almost like redundant training, because it would be nice to share a gun with somebody else, and they can let us try out a G-3 or AK.
Watching other people shoot exotic types ( those+ an SVT...) can keep us from using up too much of our own.
Headed now to the small river. Maybe the cottonmouths are coming out of their holes.

I find it very difficult to get people out shooting. 95% of the time I am out with my dad, 3% I can get a friend up, and the rest I am by myself. My dad and I each have friends who shoot, and go out with us once in a while, but the vast majority of the time I am either alone or with my dad.

The friends I have who shoot are just not that into it. I think a lot of them would never shoot if I didn't invite them out.

PSLMAN: I also got tired of furnishing everything. Unless they are completely new and it is an educational trip, I stopped inviting the leaches. If they don't bring their own ammo they are now out of luck. Here you are bringing out a few grand worth of steel and they want to use your ammo too? That gets old quick.
