Question .30 carbine shoots high

I recently purchased an Auto Ordnance mil spec .30 cal M1 carbine. I've taken it to the range and tested it at 50 and 100 yards. It shot high using the folding "L" shaped peep sight. I replaced that sight with an adjustable rear sight I purchased from Numrich Arms. I've lowered the rear sight as much as I can, but at 100 yards it still shoots high.

Any suggestions as to what could be done to bring the point of bullet impact down? Taller front sight? Would a gunsmith be able to help resolve this problem? Thanks for your input.

Aim lower . . . . or sell the flip sight to buy a taller front sight.

If you can't get a taller foresight, bend the barrel up a bit!

Unfortunately, the rear sights for a carbine are approximates. The problem you are experiencing is quite common and the recommendations here are valid; except for bending your barrel up a bit...if you could do that it would make it shoot higher than what you now are...Ok, before the ration of boo's hit, I know it was a joke. In reality the best thing to do is use Kentucky windage lest you spend a bunch of money for sights that may or may not correct your problem. Set your rear sights to the 100 yd mark and practice adjusting your POA for the distance your shooting.

You Brits think you are smart, once I had this problem and took the sight off and built it up with weld and filed it down.I also had one of those wide blades and drilled and tapped it and put a bolt in from the top. Both of mine worked. sam.

Yeah & I mucked it up as well, should have said bend it down. However, much as it goes against the grain to agree with you, I'll have to on this one. Best bet is to increase the height of the foresight.

Build up the front sight with a bit of JBWeld. Then clean it up with a needle file. Then you can carefully cut it down with the same file til you get the POI where you want it.
