Sam - How about we keep this fight fair. Billy drinks Lake water from "The Titi" on a daily basis. Sure he has the power of a vodoo, you would too if you drank from "The Titi".

Here are two scopes that could fit the bill for a 1-mile shot. Notice the price of these scopes.

Also, justgoto, the members here have a lot of experience and a lot of time at the range and most of them served in the military. They have all given good advise. You, on the other hand, have a big attitude problem. Fix it or don't, I could care less, but I am calling BS on your "expertise". If you really had all of this knowledge of guns and shooting at those distances, you would already know what to be looking for in a rifle setup and you would also know that it is going to cost you more than $1000 to put a group on a target at 1 mile. You would also know that the term "sniper" is used for just that, sniping. Meaning shooting a human target.

Your ignorance displayed here thus far has me thinking you BS'd all or your "facts". Maybe you do have the experience, maybe you don't. either way, if you can get a $1000 rifle to make a shot at that distance, you will be the first to do it.

some advice, first of all shooting at 300yds, and even 1000yds are two entirely different worlds, and you want to go for 1 mile. first off a one thousand dollar budget, is not even close to realistic. for starters the cheapest scope you'll find that will be useful at 1 mile is a nightforce 8-32X BR ( over $1200 alone). secondly your gonna need a rifle that will do sub 1/4" at 100yds repetetively. so your looking at if you shop very carefully $2000-$3000 for a bare rifle ( more realisticly would be 3-5 thousand), then add some rings, mounts and other extras. now figure on handloading, because factory ammo will not get it done when your speaking this level of precision. this is just for starters.

the answer is simply ...NO! not possible....you'll need a scope with 1/8" click an thats at least $1000-1300.i have over $2000 in a .308 sendero and its still a 500-1000 yd. gun at best(i can knock down the steel plates at 500 yards but it takes my buddy to be able to hit at a 1000 with it)

the difference is ... in grammar school if you wet your pants the teacher would discreetly help you and might even give you a hug. in middle school they would add it to your permenate record an all the kids would henceforth call you "puddle britches"
