Can't figure out most of this, but MOA is 10" at 1000yds and groups less than MOA are the norm in competition.(but not with out of the box rifles, not saying that one might do it.Some will.) sam.

For those who are "Mad" about numbers, according to my quick calculation, 1MOA at 1 mile = 48.92 inches. So, take your shootin piece of choice, and on a calm day set up a 4x4 foot target one honest mile away, and have yourself a blast. Then post your results along with your witnesses. Lets say, 25 shots. No fudging here. Scout honor, hope to die, or a thousand needles in my eye. Pinkie promise not not to fib, yada, yada........

You may be right here Sam. I did a quick tap tap from recall. I will recalculate as you now have me wondering. Thanks.

1 MOA at 1760 yards, is 18.43 inches, according to the MOA calculator here:

http://www.indecorous.com/bullseye/moacalc.html

So yeah, to simplify things, Sam's just about right.

I just read this thread from front to back. WOW I don't know weather to laugh or cry, but that is 15 minutes that I will not get back. So I will post here to try and somehow validate the preciouse time that I have spent here. Most of you are knowledgable way beyond my level of edge-of-kation. I will say this though. I took a shot at a lil over a mile with a weapon costing way less than $1000..........
I took out an evil space squirel with a whicked neuclear tipped, lazer guided, heat seekin wrist rocket. LOL Sorry I couldn't resist. And yes, my spell checker is broken.

I am a simple man that does things in a simple way and 100yds and 100meters are still the same thing to me. So I want to welcome both you KA and HS who seems to have a very sophisticated wrist rocket.I hope he doesn't shoot it often,as the radioactive fallout would be hard to explain to the greenies. sam.

You guys are going about this all wrong. The best way to have a MOA rifle at a mile is to have a barrel that is almost a mile long. Then you can hit the gong every time!
