Got a new 10/22

To celebrate my new job, I got two rifles in the past three days. Both were needed to round out my collection. I got a CVA muzzle loader for $90 on closeout, and a new 10/22 for $225, blued/synthetic stock. Was glad to find a scope mounting rail was included with the 10/22. Of course, much to my dismay, I couldn't mount the 4x scope I had to it because I can't find the proprietary hex wrench to get the rings off of it. So, I grabbed the BSA red dot off of my Mini-14 and voila! it's ready for Monday. I also bought a new BSA scope for that Mini, 3x12 with turret and different turrets for different .223 loads. Pictures will be posted when I can get the XP system going. I'm pretty stoked.

Midway is out of these, but does anyone know of a place that has the Butler Creek Target Stock and 20" barrel combo for $150? That's what Midway has them for, but they're out of stock. Thanks!

Captsquirrel,

That's what I'm looking for, but they have it for over $213 and Midway has it for $150. Oh well, I'll wait for Midway to get them back in stock.

ooh I didn't realize it was that much more. I'd like to get one myself but it's not priority right now. I hope you won't have to wait long.

Fired the 10/22 yesterday. Offhand with a cheap BSA red dot, I was hitting black all day long. I put about 50 rounds through it, no problems. I need more magazines. I'm holding off changing it until I can bench it and really wring it out with a 4x scope. The NRA HQ range opens again next week, so I'll try it then. Right now, I'm going to keep the red dot on and just have some fun with it.

Here's the 10/22 with its older brother, a Mini-14 sporting a new scope.

congrats on the 10/22. i've literally burned out 22 rifles since shooting at a very early age. I have come to realize the 10/22 i purchased almost 30 years ago is going to outlive me. it still shoots with great accuracy. you now own one excellent rifle.

So far, 4 Rugers. 2 Mini-14s, 1 10/22, and a Vaquero. I want a couple more Old Model Vaqueros, one Blue Bisley Model, and one Stainless 5.5" barrel Model. That's for next year.

I have been thinking about a little .22 rifle for playing and I have always liked a 10/22. I'm glad to see such high praise.

If someone ever asked me to recommend a semi auto .22 it would hands down be the Ruger 10/22.

I will have to say that with what appears to be a downward trend in quality control from Planet Ruger, I would STILL stand by my recommendation.

I don't know what it is, but the trigger on this 10/22 is pretty crisp and even with the goofy barrel ring is pretty accurate. I bench tested this on April 11th. After sighting in with the red dot scope, I was hitting 1" groups at 50 yards. I would love to see what it can do with a magnified scope, but I lost the hex wrench for the rings on my 4x and it won't fit on the scope rail as it is. I need to get back to Wally World to snag another set of the same rings to get that hex wrench. All of the hex wrenches I have don't fit, they're either too big or too small, and I have both standard and metric. Really annoying.
