Personal load bearing equipment

Who all has personal load bearing equipment wether it is ALICE gear or MOLLE or something else. What is your setup?

I have ALICE gear that I bought when I got out of the Army. I preferred it to the vests that we were issued halfway through my service. Of course those vests were pre MOLLE. My ALICE has belt, 2 canteens, 2 mag carriers w/grenade holders, butt pack, Y harness, 1st aid pouch.

I just bought a new UTG MOLLE vest which I like even better. It has mag holders for up to 8 mags or 12 if I replace the holster with mag carriers, holster for sidearm,6 pistol mag carriers, 1st aid or radio pouch, small pouch w/shotgun shell holder, belt, vest, pad on right shoulder, place for camel back.

I think if I was going to regear I'd go with Molle, but right now I am using a pilots survival vest.

Tactical Vests AND Backpacks

Perhaps a silly question. My experience in green was 25 years ago. How do the new tactical vests work with the new backpacks? With all the pouches on the vests, I don't see where there is room for shoulder straps, a sternum strap, and suspension belt. Or do the MOLLE packs somehow attach to the vest as well?

Currently all my "tacticool" gear is the old tried&true Alice type. I prefer the "H" harness, and have it set up with two canteens, two M16 mag pouches (figuring my BO gun will be my ,223 Bushpup). Drop-down pistol holster on right, Kabar sheath on left. Two twin-mag pouches for the Colt .45 at front of belt. Everything is either OD or black. Would prefer Woodland camo.
A medium Alice pack fis over all this, but it does get stiff & bulky. Been considering one of the GI vests, modded for a 'quick release' on the pack.

Might go "Molle" in time - but that would mean buying the whole schmear - I currently have NO Molle gear.

The way they work for me is all of the pouches attach to the molle armor carrier vest, your flack jacket. Ammo, first aid, water, and anything else you can think of all attaches to that vest. Now, I was also issues a seperate ammo vest that can be worn over it that has ammo pouches and grenade pouches, etc, but since I can attach it all to my armor vest I don't use it. just another thing to get tangled up.

i use a combination of alice and molle gear, i like shopping at the MI store so my gear is kinda taylored to what i find its all OD green with some camo thrown in every once in awhile. one of my favorite things are the older compass pouches the are small and can hold anything...

Depending on what i am planning to do ive got load outs that range from a canteen and survival pouch that just hook to your belt, all the way to a vest with drop leg platforms w/ hydration pack...

My current favorite though, is just my belt, two canteens, some dump pouches(3) w/ various items, pistol, mag holder, knife and a veitnam area styled bandolier for ammo for the long gun.

Gold Nugget surplus, a place run by a retired Colonel, sells it all and its tru military issue gear. I got a catalogue from them out of the blue the other day. their website and catalogue are not impressive, but they have all the load bearing equipment, of various types, you could want. Prices are actually pretty good too.
