PIRATES MAN, PIRATES....I suppose if we can navigate through the pirates, the piggies should be a snap.

Oh, this. California has pigs as an alien species that damage the local environment when their numbers get too high. When I last lived there, (2004) if I recall, you could get a lot of tags in a season, as they're really trying to cull them. They trample ground-nesting birds' nests, root up the undergrowth, and just generally are not good for the local ecosystem when they breed up.

I don't know how it works for out-of-staters, but here is a useful .pdf!
http://www.dfg.ca.gov/publications/docs/pigguide.pdf

Go to page 16 and look at the totals. From 4-7 thousand pigs are taken each year. Page 23 shows their range.

Go, take a trip to the wine country. Kill some of those nuisances off while you're at it.

When I lived in Cali there was no season nor limits nor tags of any kind on hogs they were and of my last info (which admittedly is dated) were considered pests and vermin and subject to control (much as the Jack Rabbit was) to year round hunting.....

I'm new to the site...

Hey everyone...sorry if I'm intruding on a post but...well, I just had to chime in. I own Dos Plumas Hunting Ranch in Texas and was surfing around to find a good rifle oriented site to look to sponsor. I'm already a sponsor of another site which is bow related but got to thinking that surely there's a site dedicated to rifles also. So, here I am. Thought I would do some looking around and saw the hog posting. We do a lot of hog hunting here...couldn't resist the opportunity to tell all the guys what a blast it is to hunt wild boar! I promise you will be hooked!
Anyone out there ever tried it? I'm always interested in the stories behind the harvest and seeing pics. Hope it's ok to post some here...like I said we do alot of boar hunting here and I get to see guys almost daily and here their stories. Again, hope it's ok to post some pics here. If I've crossed the line anywhere here...just let me know.

If I don't draw a tag this year (i'll know in a few days) I plan a trip to go Boar hunting in CA. I have already been looking for outfitters that are close by.

DosPlumas what's up with the guys in the pics flashing gang signs lol! Welcome to the site.

It used to be that you could get 5 pig tags for $5, but now that it has become so popular it is up to $5 for one tag if I recall (I quit asking how much it costs to get my license and tags, I just tell the lady what I want and hand her my credit card!)

Wild Pig is very popular in northern california, and there is really no shortage of ranches that offer hunts. They are pretty cute when they are piglets, but they get pretty nasty once they grow up - kinda like normal children. They do tear up a lot of ground, heck I have seen them on the roadside of I-5 many times.

When I was working in the Tracy area, a few of the underground laborers were going to take me with them boar hunting but I ended up coming back to Nevada before we could get a trip together. They would go down around Gilroy and would do really well. I have always wanted to go.

In Cali, if ya can't shoot a Hog, at least shoot a Liberal or an Illegal Alien while you are there

Florida has an almost out-of-control Feral Hog situation...Spanish Boar were introduced back in the late 40's 50's and they've pretty much shrunk our deer population to Coyote with Horns...

From Eglin AFB to South Florida, there are HUGE areas where you can hunt Feral Hog.

Mr Wilson, I'm sure if you asked Chris, the site owner, and if the user/owner of that ID hasn't been active in some time, he'd be glad to give it to you.

But then, what do I know. Well I do know it never hurts to ask...
