Anyone know how the front sight band is mounted to a m48 barrel? My windage is off quite a bit and the front blade looks odd ajusted so far over. Thought if it was brased you might be able to heat and turn it a little. Just finnished fixing a Cetme's front site the same way.

If you are referring to the blade mounted in the post you should be able to simply tap it with a brass rod and hammer.

The front sight hood slides off after opening it slightly (it's springy material).

I used a good pair of clap pliers and expanded it and slid it off.

The front sight itself is dovetailed in the sight base and can be drift punched for windage.

No the whole front sight. The block that the blade fits in and the hood fits around. Like I said I've already moved the blade but it looks really odd adjusted so far over to one side. Looks like there is a band that it's mounted to and then either it's pressed on the barrel or slid over and maybe braised?

Hey, PDM

Where you from in Missouri? I'm a resident of the show me state as well. I reside in the Farmington area.

I can't speak from experience, but I think the front sight base is soldered on. You'll probably have to heat it, then tap it over where you want it. A good 'smith could tell you for sure.
