I just bought a new 10/22 with the barrel band, blued with black synthetic stock. Only things so far are put the scope mount on it, and it's now wearing a BSA Red Dot Scope. Oh, and my hillbilly cheek rest. Looking to get the barrel/stock deal from Midway when they get them restocked.

Are you gonna do anything with the factory trigger? Besides the barrel, that seems to be one of the best performance related upgrades/mods. Lots of ways to go without breaking the bank on that one...

I'm pretty happy with the factory trigger. It breaks clean and the trigger pull is less than my Vaquero's. Was able to get 1" groups at 50 yards with cheap Remington ammo and a red dot scope. Not really crazy about how it looks, and the stock is made for a 10 year old. There's no way to add a recoil pad to increase the length of pull, the whole thing is one piece. At least with my wood stocked Mini, I could take the brass butt plate off and put a recoil pad on, but I ended up putting an ATI Strike Force stock on it.

I have a 10-22 with a .920 butler creek barrel. I reworked the factory bbl channel and cut off the end of the stock where the barrel band used to be. It's not fancy but it shoots good.

When they shoot like that it was done right in my opinion. Nice job!

I forgot to mention that I also worked the trigger over and bed the action to the stock. I also did the auto bolt release mod.

what bedding procedure did you apply? gotta be careful bedding a 10/22 as the receiver flexes a bit naturally...

I have beeded mine as well but not using traditional bedding procedures. I use the cork and felt routine. still has "give", but doesnt go anywhere...make sense??? also the lug area finds the same position everytime the gun is disassembled.

So a quick questions not to interrupt the flow of things. Will a aftermarket bull barrel fit on a regular 10/22 stock. Wood or synthetic, or if you upgrade the barrel must you upgrade the stock?

Here is my stainless 10-22 rifle, not the carbine with the barrel band. I put a Power Custom scope mount on it, a Volquartsen extended mag release, a slip on muzzle break, Wolff extra power trigger return spring, reduced power sear spring, extra power hammer spring, Limbsaver Barrel Deresonator, Center Point red/green illuminated 4x16x40 Scope in Leapers Tri Rail rings, and I put it in a Choate olive drab Dragunov stock. I just put the new springs in it and have'nt had the chance to bore sight with all the damn rain we have had the last two weeks. As soon as I get it bore sighted and sighted in I'll post some targets and let you know how it shoots.

Started as a stock 10/22, then went with the Houge Overmold stock and now in its current form.
-Polished Receiver, Trigger Housing, bolt, and firing pin
-TacSol extended mag release
-Christie's auto bolt release
-Power Custom hammer, sear, springs, and bolt handle
-Titanium Edge Extractor
-Green Mountain 20" SS barel
-Fajen Legacy stock
-Self-made overtravel screw

If you have the carbine stock with the barrel band you will either have to make the barrel channel wider or get a new stock for the bull barrel. That can't be done if you have a synthetic stock. I am thinking of modifying my wood stock for a bull barrel soon as I sell one of my guns to get some extra cash.

I was thinking of doint that to mine..how is the weight and balance of the rifle with the factory stock and bull barrel. Also what length barrel is that?
