yeppers, that is the "Rico Hooker"....compliments of the 2" drum sanding wheel and my drill press.....it feels great in the hand....then about 10 coats of tung oil...here is a link to the write up on the whole project so far.....wait until you see what I working on next....  http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...d.php?t=295135

something I'm working on, this barrel will not be used though...it was too sunny out to show the grain, but this stock is Maple with some tiger strip....  | |

Just wanted to throw my super stock into the mix.Green mountain heavy sporter taper barrel ,trigger mod,putty bed'd,bolt release,couple of coats of tung oil..She will shoot the ass off a fly at 50 yards..!

Been thinking about doing the same thing. The aftermarket thumbhole stocks out there seem to all be right hand only. I removed some for the barrel channel for the stock barrel because when I took it apart for it's first cleaning before shooting it there was some build up of something (looked like glue to be honest with you?) and the barrel was sitting on it and had I not, it would have shot like crap that I know. I just used about a 3/4" or maybe it was a 5/8" dowel rod with sandpaper wrapped around it. Worked just fine. But then, didn't have all that much to remove.
What did you use to take the material out for the bull barrel? Did you buy the proper tools to do it or find something that would work just the same?
Does anyone else have any ideas or method to do it without having to buy the proper tool/s?

what i did was just to use the dowel a 120 git paper wraped around it.It does take a little wile but it should since you want it to be nice a work right.Mine was taperd so i the wraped some ellectic tape one about three and half inches from the end .were the .920 diameter near the reciever and the just went back to the straight dowel for the .750 near the muzzle.I then put a small piece of cork right at the tip of stock for a pressure point near the muzzle.
