10/22 Customs

Hey folks! I thought I would invite everyone here to discuss previous, current, or future 10/22 custom builds. Feel free to share project experiences (succeses AND failures). Ask questions regarding tuning and modifications. Most importantly PLEASE post pics of your 10/22's pre or post custom build so we can see what you are working with!

If we are lucky maybe we can get LeftyO and Zobo to lend their knowledge to us when we get stumped...

BRING IT ON...

well lets see I don't have any pics, sorry guys. The first one was just a simple barrel and stock change. The next was a complete swap out used just the receiver and changed out the rest. Boyd evo stock, whistle pig barrel, and hornet trigger and mag release. The next will be a running boar barrel project.

Recently I was in the market for a Whistle Pig barrel, but could not find one available anywhere in the length I required... After much deliberation I elected to try a TacSol 16.5" fluted. I do believe it was "meant to be" and I am NOT unhappy with my choice. I will also say that I have NEVER heard anything negative about WhistlePig, I just couldnt find the one I wanted.

Spending Easter with family but I'll be happy to post some pics ASAP! Passing on things I've learned regarding 1022 and subsequent builds is half the fun. It doesn't have to give the wallet a hernia!

This is a nearly finished project.
Slightly modified Fajun stock finished with Tru Oil.

Magnum Research MLR 1722 action with a stainless steel sleeved, carbon fibre barrel. The only change to the factory spec so far is a new soft bolt buffer I installed. Stage 2 will be a new Kidd trigger assembly but I need to wait for our dollar to rise a bit and sort out permits to import it.

The scope is a Leupold 2x7 VARI-X 2c. I plan to put my Leupold VX2 3-9x50 on it after my next deer hunt. (it's on my 243).

Current availability and backorders was the problem I ran into. Common problem right now with may things! The TacSol barrel was on a shelf at Cabelas. HMMMMMM...lol

7 yards? thats 21 feet...the bullet may not have traveled far enough to cross the line of sight. (if sam ruger is listening dont even start...) I would recommend shooting a scoped rifle at no less than 25 yards... 50 is even more common...

i would be willing to bet that you would do yourself a favor by shooting at a much farther distance. Go to 25 yds and sight in....then go to 50. Unless something is really wrong you should be able to adjust fine at these distances...

let me know what happens...

Do a search on 'barrel droop' problem with some 10/22's You can get a scope mount with 15moa built in.
Ruger 10/22 Scope Mount 15 MOA Tactical

rimfirecenter.com has a lot of info on this.
