Hi guys
I thought I would throw up a couple of pics of some hogs that I shot last year. The rifle was a charter arms Field king in .243 calibre and the ammo was PMC with 100GR sierra game king projectiles. First pic is a boar which I got 60kg of meat from, the second pic is of another hog that I killed from my front door step which was a 200 yard shot which went straight to the chest and again was with the .243 he was a smaller boar than the first but still got 30kg of meat from him, because these hogs were shot on a farm where I was working I didn't use the traditional method which is using dogs to find, bail and hold while you stick em with a knife. IF you have any pics to share post em up I will probably be posting a few more pics in the weeks to come and hopefully I may be able to get some pics of some dog action on hogs in the bush.
Oh I wasn't flipping off the camera in any of those pics I had to have a close look myself if it was the second pic you were referring to that middle finger on the hand holding my knife I was pressing down either side of the boars pizzle so I could cut the penis and testicles out of the boar as it is vital that you get the sex organs out of a boar immediately after killing as it will affect the quality of the meat if left in for too long, I prepare all my animals for butchering out in the hunting grounds I only leave the skin on to keep the outside of the meat clean while carrying out of forest and that comes off at home once I have the animal hanging overnight.
I would love to go boar hunting. My friend shot a 180 pounder (81 kilos) and at that size the meat wasn't as tender for straight cooking, but bbq or slow cooked boy was it good eating.
Do you have a big problem with feral pigs at your work? We have them here but the people here are so retarded it is impossible to reason with them. This customer of mine owns part of a golf course and "hires" professionals to dispose of his pig problem. He would rather pay people good money to trap them, then walk up to the cage and shoot them in the head because it is more "humane" that letting hunters shoot them off his property for them. weird but true. :-?

That was on a farm I used to work on and yes it has a hog problem due to the fact the farm is right against a forest I still go there to control the hog problem for the owner and the good part is I can go there any time I want. Deer have also been shot on the farm I get my hogs from but the deer do not come out regularly like the hogs do. but I prefer to head for the hills for deer stalking. As for big hogs they are as you said good for slow cooking or roasting but ultimately they are best suited for sausages, bacon and ham the smaller hogs are alot more tender and the flavour is better.
