But in a survival situation, no. I'll go down, but not easy.

Where the heck are you getting ammo for eleven cents per round?!?

My father is about a solid a Christian you will ever find. He was also in Marine Corps sniper in Vietnam. He always said if SHTF and he would fight it out until the last round in his .45 (which was for him) rather than be taken alive. Not to hard to understand why if you know what happened to snipers who were taken alive. Once a sniper is taken, They are dead anyway, It just a question of how much they will suffer.

My gut feeling is my God would forgive a situation like this.

Interesting question! I would consider it if all other options were exhausted and the suffering was unbearable. I would have to allow family to make their own decision, but for me...it would be an option and I'd take my chances that my God would understand. At least that's what I'm saying now...not sure anyone could predict what they might do in this situation.
Great topic for thought and discussion!

it really depends on how much you can stand watching a loved one suffering excruciating pain, and knowing there is no way to help. its a tough question but not as tough as when one has to face the reality. i do not endorse, or rule out the ultimate solution to a no win situation. i know it will be an individual decision at the time.

I could euthanize a loved one if I knew there was no other way to end their suffering.

Otherwise, for the most part I'd have to be well on my way to becoming a zombie before I turned my gun on myself. Though I'd rather have someone kill me because I'm affraid of the possible consequences of suicide.
