Thinking of buying some property near Batesville or Horseshoe Bend. Drawbacks? Especially in HB property is dirt cheap.

Moved to NW Arkansas about 4 & 1/2 yrs ago from SE Ks. Settled just outside Eureka Springs on Table Rock. Have been in some areas of the state, just not near Horseshoe Bend. Have spent some time around Bull Shoals/Mt. Home area and it is really pretty there. Maybe someone else can help you out. I know property taxes are a LOT cheaper in Arkansas than they were in Ks.....

I'm from the Greers Ferry Lake area, and it's great country. I would pick Batesville as a close second. I don't know much about HB personally, but I would check tax and zoning laws carefully as those can be a problem sometimes. Also, be careful about the land you are interested in. In that part of the state, much of it is vertical, if you know what I mean. lol In that part of Ar., weather can be a factor if you don't have 4W drive. Also, get all your mineral rights if you can. They are exploring for natural gas and you don't want a gig in your front yard someday.

We own some land in Izard county not too far from Batesville. If you buy land only, the price seems to be running anywhere from $1000 per acre on up for woods. Not sure about pasture/farm land.
