I just got my XDM 40 and I am shooting factory ammo 155 JHP. I have put about 200 rounds through it and I am getting 1 to 5 jams every clip. The round is hitting the top of the chamber before it is linning up with the chamber and it jams. It looks like it is going in at to steep of an angle. It clears easly I just have to pull the slide back just a little then the shell goes in. I have read these guns never jam. Anyone else have this problem? Other than this problem it is the nicest handling gun I have ever had.

Bad magazine perhaps.

1. Number your mags with a sharpie.
2. See if it is the same mag that fails. If so repair mag lips.
3. Do not limp wrist the gun when fired.
4. Try a different ammo

Keep your wrist straight and rigid, stiff. When you have a limp wrist like a wet noodle it absorbs the recoil energy of the shot. This can cause the pistol to short cycle and have an ejection or loading failure. The pistol needs to have something somewhat rigid to hold the frame still while the slide does all the work.

Sounds like a bad magazine. I own a 9MM XDM and have never had any issues and know several people with a .40 and they have been flawless. The suggestion above about numbering your magazines is a good idea. Then you will know if it is the gun or the magazine. If all else fails you can call Springfield. They have a great customer service department. If it is the gun they will fix it if it is the magazine they should replace it.

I've got the same gun, and I went through a period where mine would jam. The magazine spring has to be in right, and I had taken mine apart to clean and apparently replaced the spring backward. Didn't work right after that, but I didn't put two and two together. Instead, I sent the mags back to SA and got replacements - never had another jam. Whatever the reason, I can almost guarantee the problem lies with the magazine, and within the magazine, it is most likely the spring. IF you ever had the mag apart, you may want to try turning the spring around and see if you notice any difference. Otherwise, get new mags. Later, B
