I have a p220 that I made over sized grips for. Fits perfect now.

I shoot only 380 and 9mm. Because of arthritis, I only shoot 9mm in a large frame, heavy Taurus PT92AFS. Any gun less than about 20 ounces, I MUST have a locked breech action, otherwise, I prefer the 380. I am on a waiting list for the new SigSauer P238. Cost is about the same as a Kahr CW-9. Both are the same size, both will cost well over $500. If you can "stand" the recoil, try a KelTec Pf9. (half the price but BIG "kick" when fired) Personally, the tiny 9mm guns hurt enough that I "flinch" when I try to shoot them. (not good, for ccw!) Because of the recoil, for ccw, I carry a Bersa Thunder 380, until my new Sig P238 comes. . The Bersa is reliable & has never given me a "hint" of a problem. It always goes "bang." The biggest decision you have for ccw is, can you carry it, comfortably, and concealed? If it's not "comfortable" you'll leave it home. Don't fall for the argument that "380 is too small." Look at the statistics. I reload my own 380 & 9mm so cost is identical.

I have 2 SIG 239's and like them better than any handgun I have held yet. Mine are 40 S&W.

My two most accurate semi auto pistols....

..My SIG P229 and my Dan Wesson Razorback. The thing is, the SIG has 2 barrels, .40 S&W and 357 SIG. And both barrels shoot just as accurate.

Very Accurate

My friend and I shoot her 220 SIGs. I'm a bad shot but those SIGS are far better than any other .45 I've tried. We use Hogue grips for a great feel and solid grasp. I have never been disappointed buying the good stuff.

I carry a ruger lcp loaded with speer gold dot. I am actually a sig fan, but just could not turn this one down. My opinion on brand, calibre or whatnot is if someone tells me I have the wrong brand or calibre I ask them if they would like to stand about 7 yds. out and let me shoot them, no takers, this tells me it is all irrevelent, shoot what you like and stop trying to convert me.

Sig P239

We've had a P239 (9mm) for a couple of years now and love it. My wife is able to handle it just fine and is somewhat of a better shot than I am . We went to a pistol range and "rented" all their compact guns (S&W, Glock, Springfield Armory, Ruger, etc.) and found the SIG to be to our liking. It's not an inexpensive gun and was very hard to find at that point in time. I don't know how rare they are now, but I wouldn't mind having another one except that my wife thinks one gun is enough.

I've had two Sigs P-220, and P-226. And i was sent to a Sig armourer school a few years ago. They are very well made pistols. As to how they fit in your hand, two things are true about hands. 1. All hands are the same. 2. All hands are different. In Oklahoma availability of ammo would be real issue for the .380. Our retired guys have to qualify yearly if they want to take advantage of the federal deal, and carry as a retired officer and one of my old partners got one of the new little Rugers, and we went to the range. All he could find for ammo was some Corbon with a really large hollow point. The little pistol failed to feed every other round for a full box of Corbon. I had an old box of ball .380 and we fired all of it and the pistol functioned flawlessly. Then we went back to the Corbon and it had no failures. Seems they need a little breaking in. (at least this one did)

Here's my $.02... My former police dept. issued SIG P226's in .40S&W. I loved this pistol and would fire it every chance I got. I've got an average sized hand and a medium build and never had a problem with fit in the hand or with carrying or pointing it with magazine full. In fact, this is the first pistol I am considering adding to my personal collection. And it will be my civilian carry piece. Yes, it prints a little. But I often wear my shirt un-tucked, and the weather here lends itself to a light jacket much of the year - a high ride holster would work well. The power of the 40 over that of the 9, added to Hydra-Shock ammo, makes this one a no-brainer for me. Just something to consider. - Chris

I love sig pistols. They look great, and all the controls are very easy to get to. Here's my thoughts....
I have a sig pro 2340. Great gun, easy to shoot, but a little heavy for some. Comes with different grips for different size hands.
Owned a 239 in 9mm. Miss it a lot. Shot great.
Had a 226 as well. Like the other 2 better.
Depends on use - carry or range?
They don't work well for leftys, though....

My wife has small hands and picked up the P229 Elite 9 last weekend and fell in love. Haven't bought it yet, but plan to. Some don't like the wooden handle, but personally I do. It's a huge upgrade from her current .32 Taglofano GT-32, also with wooden grips.

Thanks for all the help
One consideration nobody mentioned is the cost and availability of .380 Auto ammo.

The SIG is a great brand of pistol. I have multiples of them. My personal favorite is the SIG P220 in Stainless Steel.

However, if you are going to carry a SIG p230/232, I think you would be better off with a SIG pistol model in 9MM for the same weight of gun.

Others have bemoaned selling their P230 Stainless models. I was happy to get rid of both of them we owned, after my wife decided to move up to 9MM.

Personally, I think .380 caliber is a waste of a good gun. They are popular in foreign countries that do not allow civilians to own "military" calibers. In the USA, we don't have that problem.

Your thinking of the Sig P238 which is the newest .380ACP that looks like a colt mustang.

The P232 is a larger framed .380 that looks similar i suppose to a PPK.

Its similar in size to a Beretta 84.

The Sig P232 is one sexy gun imo.

Its larger than the ruger LCP and the keltec, but with the larger frame you get several advantages over those really tiny mouse guns. Such as usable night sights and the ability to get your whole hand around the gun. It is also very reliable. Perhaps arguably even more so than the really tiny guns.

The P232 also has a fixed barrel blowback style system with a euro style mag release. That may be considered a hinder to some but considering a lot of civilian CCW holders dont carry a spare mag anyways that could be an issue or not.

It really is a throw back to traditional European style pistol craft. They make a full stainless steel version which is heavier but if weight is an issue, they make a two tone version with lighter alloy frame. All aspects of the frame and slide are rounded off and snag free and its a very slim gun for CCW.

It is also a very accurate gun.
I want one lol. I wouldnt CCW it as I have a larger caliber gun for that but I still want one. Its on my short list.

If I have one issue with it as a CCW choice is that a con of its size is that you can get a larger caliber gun for the same size frame that the P232 is.

If your looking for the smallest package available you can do smaller with something else like the ruger LCP etc.

But if you are fine carrying a .380 pistol and dont mind carrying something slightly larger the Sig P232 is probably one of the most reliable and accurate .380 pistols out there.

I would caution that it has a very low bore/slide axis relative to the frame and some people complain that they get slide bite sometimes.

Sigs though are great shooters. I have lots of expirience with them and I would rate them higher than HK for a combat pistol. They are a little pricey but there are a lot of good deals from FFLs on gunbroker right now.

Sixteen yrs in LE and I've carried 3 SIGs. 226 9mm no/rail. 226 9mm w/rail and now 226 40 w/rail. Not once in sixteen years can I recall a malfunction that wasn't my fault (limp wristed 1 hand shooting and mag seating). Also have 239 for backup and off duty carry. If I didn't carry SIG, I wouldn't know what to carry. Maybe a Walther P99 in 40. I don't know that I could trust the ability of a .380 ACP round.

Definitely. If you want and can afford one get one.

But remember, if you go with .380, ammo is hard er to find compared to .40S&W, 9mm or .45acp even for some reason. But more and more it's finding its' way back onto shelves though.

Personally though, I ever get a Sig, it's going to be the P250. Probably in .45acp. That or one of the Sig Revolutions. Again, .45acp.

They DEFINITELY don't fit mine. I haven't shot one yet that I didn't jam. Everyone who ownes on loves it, so I can only blame the shooter. Me and Sig are definitely not a fit.
