Keeping fit

Hello all, First time poster long time forum lurker :P. Was wondering what routines everyone keeps as far as staying fit? I don't see fittness talked about much on these boards, Yet I think it is as important if not more then what kind of gear you have.

when I go to the gym in the spring and summer I do alot of free weight training with low weight and high reps and sets to build lean muscle rather than bulk. In the winter when I usualy dont go to the gym and put on about 10 lbs of fat so to stay strong I go old school. 3 sets of 50 push ups, normal, dimond, and wide grip, 3 sets of 50 crunches side crunches then squats, planks and side planks and calf raises then arm circles and back to push ups. it's not much but it will keep you strong if your going through a lazy spell like I do in the winter. I also mix up my cardio afterworkouts 3 times a week on the olyptical with hill climb and resistance on 13 and sometimes I run. I also do martial arts, not as cinsistant as I used to when I was single but I still do it off and on when I can.

Weights three days a week, cardio two, and abs every day. Plus taking care of the farm helps. When you have land along a creek in the springtime, there's always plenty of fence to build.

Well, I don't smoke, and I don't drink hardly anything (except for family holidays). Generally I just do quite a bit of jogging for most of the good weather. I might get some situps in, but there seems to be a boyancy device around my midsection lately...

I try to eat right and get some form of exercise in every day. It's not always the same but I try to do something. Some days I will jump on the oliptical (great machine, especially if you have bad knees or ankles like I do). Other days I just keep busy doing random activities that I need to get done.

Biggest problem for me has been losing weight, because I do have some more that I want to lose. Already lost 15 lbs . But the reason I have such a hard time losing weight is because I am diabetic. And the first 1/2 hour of cardio workout usually goes to burning off excess sugar in my system.

I go to the gym 4-5 days a week. I work out different muscle groups each time and one day is for abs. Run at the end of the work out but not every day. I have pretty good natural stamina.

Im kinda small with an ultra high metabolism so even though I do lots of weights I dont get a lot of muscle mass but I do get lean muscle and muscle tone.

I only plan on running if I run out of bullets! LOL After SHTF everyone will be on a diet, for now I'll eat and enjoy myself. You all make me tired just reading your routines!

I typically eat a pretty healthy, balanced diet. As far as excersize I typically will do light weight training (high numbers of pushups, situps, squats, pullups, etc). Plus I ride a bike ~5 miles a day to school and back (mostly 2 trips). Ive started to run more since I just got a puppy, and when he gets his last shots (this week!) I will be running at least twice a week both for him and for me.

Now that the weather is getting warmer I'm getting off of my lazy winter routine of the olyptical once or twice a week and pushups, sit ups, and squats. Its time to start running again and goin to the gym 3 to 4 days a week. most people do it the other way around and hit he weights harder in the winter but I lose motivation after working on the seawall freezing my sack off all day.

I'm bad for eating anything I want these days. I do go to the gym at least twice a week. I eat out a lot and that's not good. It's hard to say no to Texas Roadhouse ribeye.

Brown Derby Roadhouse is even better. At least my local one is.

I typically stay fit with a basic military routine; pushups, situps, and since I had two knee surgeries in '08, stationary bike as opposed to running for now. I used to carry around a lot more muscle mass and spent 5 days a week lifting weights. Since the knee incident I've dropped 30 pounds of muscle. I can't work out at that level anymore, so I'm going to stick to good fitness and natural strength.

Eat a reasonably balanced diet, work out with the Wii, exercise my shoulder as the orthopedist tells me to, chase a six year old, and above all, stay away from anything with high fructose corn syrup in it, which means almost all carbonated sodas, most cookies and many candies. Good thing I prefer fresh fruits and berries anyhow!

The new yopait desert yogurts are a good alternative to eating something sweet. I dont have diabetes or anything like that but my blood sugar drops alot for some reason and I crave sweet stuff so I just have one of those yogurts.

In the summer I ride my bike 100-150 miles per week and go backpacking. In the winter I snowshoe and ski to keep active.
