SA 1911 GI problem

I've been having this problem since I bought my Springfield 1911 GI .45-
When firing the next round fails to chamber (see pic). This doesn't always happen each shot, sometimes its every other, but always on last shot. Ammo brand and type doesn't seem to be it, I've tried Federal HPs, American Eagle ball, Fiochii ball, Gold Dots, reloaded ball, and several others. This happens with all of my Factory Springfield magazines, so I don't think that has anything to do with it. I've put about 350-400 rounds through it so far. Yes, it is lubed, I've tried more lube, less lube etc. but no luck there either.
Looking for any ideas???

Call Springfield Armory & explain the problem to them. Feed ramp may need a little touching up. My friend had a problem with his 1911 style consistently shooting low & left. They had him send it in & they fixed it for free.

Extractor is too tight, preventing the round (rim)from slipping upwards underneath it and thus aligning itself with the bore.

Or, there's a burr on either the extractor claw or bolt face.

Is the chamber perhaps too snug, or poorly machined? If you hold it barrel down, can you drop an unfired round in and have it seat in the chamber?

Well looks like I'll be giving Springfield Armory a call on Monday. If I can get this fixed free by the manufacturer I will certainly take them up on it. If not then I'll try some of the other suggestions.
Thanks for all the input!

i had the exact same problem , on the gi 1911. i polished the feed ramp. and adjusted the extractor. seemed like the extractor was just to stiff to let the case fully load into the chamber.

I had the same problem with a P-38 pistol I have. There was a slight burr on the extractor arm. I polished the feed ramp, and that didn't help. So I finally discovered the burr on the extractor, and filed it off. Works like a champ now! But the extractors between the two are quite different, so maybe it will take a new extractor. You might have to wait until Monday to find out.

Springfield's customer service is supposedly top notch. Let 'em prove it to you.
