Accelerator bullets

Can anyone tell me where I might acquire some .30 cal accelerator bullets? I've seen them in a .30-06 round and was wondering if the bullets are still available. I would like to make some varmit rounds for my .308.

I've tried both 30.06 and 30-30 accelerator rounds years ago. I found accuracy was really really bad with them, so I gave them up. But if you really want to try them, look here.

I guess these guys are still in business. J & D Components - Prices FortyXDM advised me to get the fastest powder I could find and work up. I kinda did that, but I stopped between 2400 and 2500fps. I could go faster, but I am using this around the farm. It is a pretty good rabbit, squirrel, and varmint round. This is with a 30-30 using 10.0gr of Unique.

I would advise using a 125gr Spirepoint at about 3000fps+.They are accurate and reach right out there. The 130gr hpbt,s will out perform them but I never got quite as good of accuracy. There might be a way to load the accellerator accurately but I never found it.They are rather expensive anyway. sam.

My accelerators are .223 cal bullets in .30 Cal sabots...Loads can be tricky to work up but Most Sabot dealers have load info...

I started playing with them some a few weeks ago, haven't had the time to really work on the load all that much. My first set of test rds. were more for a cycle test than anything else through my Chinese SKS.

All five of the test rds. cycled with no problems and the test load shot a 4" groups which is about as good as some of the Russian X39 ammo will do. I plan to work on the load and see if I can tighten it up some. I'm currently using a Sierra .224 52 gr. FBHP over 25 grs. of RX7. I got my sabots for here Accelerator(R) Type Sabots for .30 Caliber Cartridges I already had the flaring die that I use when loading cast bullets in the SKS.

Guns either love 'em or they hate 'em. I've heard a lot of complaints about their accuracy, but my Ruger M77 .30/06 shoots Remington Accelerators into an inch at 100 yds.

Been there done that and was not impressed, sabots cost about the price of cheap bullets and then cost of bullets and at the price of all that poor accuracy,I'll just buy bullets for my 22-250 and shoot them, more accurately less cost.

I bought some J&D sabots a few years ago and
experimented a little. My accuracy wasn't great.
I used IMR4198 and CCI 250 primers and also
crimped to help with good ignition. Before I crimped
there was unburned powder in the barrel. I may try
again sometime.
