the gun market a couple of years ago was very diffrent from what it is now... what you got it for a couple of years ago is not an indicator at all of what the prices should be today....

I paid $395 for a like new Norinco All matching#'s beautiful stock & bore about a month ago. I also paid $200 for 500rds of wolf @ Syracuse gunshow. My father picked up a yugo for $300 @ same show. His was the cheapest there, most expensive was a Russian going for $775 if I recall correctly. Out of the thousands of guns there were only 8 sks's @ the show. My Norinco JW-15 below.

I just paid $370 for an unfired Norinco w/all matching numbers except it has a very good quality, tight fitting, black fiberglass stock. The ONLY thing that rattles when you shake it is the firing pin and the weapon is a bear to disassemble because everything is so tight.

i picked up a yugo in good shape at the end of april. with 100 rds of wolf fmj for 200. as soon as i looked at it i handed him the cash. the next day went to a local shop they only had 1 left but it had a price tag of 375. i got lucky on that buy. a good yugo should go for 200-300. at least thats wat it was last year. i miss the good old days...

Happy to report that I am the proud new owner of a chinese sks now. Sioux City gun show brought me one for $225 with 200 rounds of ammo and stripper clips. Matching serials and very good condition although it looks like the stock has been refinished. They had two others but wanted $350 apiece for those. More to report tomorrow, another gun show is afoot

whats the going price for a all matching Albanian SKS with original sling, and with a refinished stock. never fired by me, just cleaned off the cosmo?

bluing is worn, but the rifle still looks good. the wood has some dark spots in it and some minor dings. your average Albanian.

The question is.... How much are you comfortably willing to pay for it.

i know they are rare(er) than most. it was the first time i had ever heard of the rifle.

Some dealer wanted $396 for a Chinese SKS, got my Russian one for $350 and sold my Yugo SKS for $235.

Someone was walking around with a K31 and wanted... $400 for it.
:O
Two or three weeks prior I got mine for 195.

If I had the money I would have taken this following deal,
$725 for an HK 91 with scope, wood furniture.
The guy was walking around with it trying to sell.

If only I had the money then...

Well, I am new to the scene. I just managed to acquire a Romanian for $360 yesterday--the seller told me it was a Chinese model, but he was apparently mistaken. Does anyone know much about the Romanian SKS? It appears to be in excellent condition, yet when I took it out to the range today, I had more jams than I expected. Maybe it just needs a good cleaning... not everything can shoot like my Glock! Any suggestions?

My guess is either the guy you bought it from or the guy he bought it from didn't know how to clean it, take your receiver down and check to see if the recoil spring is in the right way and clean up the now black cosmo' and lightly grease the slide. May also be your mag, when you're shooting (if its a detachable) make sure and pull it towards you from the curve, use it like you would a tacti charging handle. Alot of times the mags are loose and the round doesn't get high up enough to go into the chamber. Happened to me a few times. Now I almost always hold the mag while I shoot whether its with my Tapco 20 rounders or my 42 round steel one which is a retarded thing, even if I only ever put 20 in it.

Seriously, why is everybody paying these incredibly high prices??? The prices are only that high because someone keeps paying them!!! I found a Norinco for $228 last week in one store, the same exact model Norinco SKS was at another store for over $500.

SHOP AROUND PEOPLE!

Well where I am really got no choice but to pay $330 up at Rocky Mountain Discount Sports in Sheridan, WYO for a Yugo in ok exterior condition. There aren't any places closer to buy an SKS. My local gunshop the only Milsurp or variants they have is usually just a single M1Garand and 2 or 3 AR15s at or more than 1000 bucks.

Haha, you are more than likely right. I'm looking forward to pulling it apart and checking it out piece by piece. The mag is the factory 10 that has been modified to be detachable. I got a second mag yesterday that is a piece of trash... the first issue that I was having was that the rounds were too far forward and the point of the projectile was getting caught on something underneath the chamber entry. I will try holding onto it to see if that helps... if not, it might become my next target Apart from that, I had a couple of stovepipes and the like. Checking the slide and recoil spring might help this out. A friend of mine has two SKSs and told me that they were pretty reliable, and I'm hoping that he is right!

I just bought a Yugo 59/66 this weekend, complete with Bayo, Grenade Launcher Oil bottle, etc.. It's never been Issued, never fired Excellent numbers matching condition, I paid $350 cash and carry... It's a beautiful thing, I'm thinking of selling my Chinese SKS to cover it, I really like the Yugo much much more than the Chinese SKS, I know the barrel is not chrome lined on the Yugo, but it seems like a much better made gun. My Chinese SKS i bought just after the ban expired, paid $225 for it, in Cosmo, never fired with all the extras. It's nice too, but I still think I prefer the Yugo.

*sigh*

Found a big 5 ad yesterday while cleaning. Almost flipped when I saw them advertising an SKS for $180.

Then I looked and saw the date was June 2006...

Not to mention a Lee Enfield rifle marked "US Property" for $150....
