apparently he made violins. I am looking to get back into it after a very ling hiatus and am not sure what lower-priced violin to look for. having trouble finding any information on the Andrew Schroetter "brand"

Well, it looks like they are all made in china. I was hoping for a better quality one for the price. The only thing I know about chinese violins is that they were not known for their bright crisp sound.


Update, the paper actually says
"Andrew Schroetter Geigenbaumeister"
"Mittenwald / Bayern 420 Model, No. 17405 4/4, Jahr"

now geigenbaumeister just means luthier, which means someone who makes or repairs stringed instruments.
Strange, thanks for the help, keep digging if you would! Maybe not actually chinese somehow?

made in 1988, unless the chinese are faking inscriptions on these, I wonder if it was one he made solo, then sold his name and design to the chinese company that makes them now?

Mittenwald / Bayern is a place in Germany, Jahr means year (1988). I guess I may have to take a chance on it.
