As I sit reading this, I'm listening to Celtic Woman. I like new age, Celtic, and classical.

Michael.

That's kinda funny, I love Christmas music! I have a huge CD collection and even have a bunch of Christmas vinyls. My MP3 player is loaded up with all Christmas music around the first of Dec. I tried Twisted Sister's Christmas album last year and it was actually pretty awesome!

Thanks, Fishpond.
Yes, those are my Irish lasses. As my cousin would say, not a dog in the bunch.

I also like Blackmore's Nights. It's kind of a cross between Renaissance and rock.

The Irish have an interesting history. including being the only group of people that kicked Julius Caesars butt. (If I remember my history correctly, when he left, he told his historian that the island did not exist.) Way to stay undefeated.

I listen to them as well as,
80's Metal such as Blue Murder, Motley Crue, etc.,
Seventies Metal, Hard Rock, and Arena Rock(Boston and Styx)
Progressive Metal such as Queensryche,
The older, awesomer Metallica(the new stuff is just OK.),
Grunge such as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains,
Post Grunge such as Seether,
Neo/new-punk such as The Offspring,
Some alternative such as Paramore,
Some stuff that's hard to classify because they are all over the place such as Flyleaf, and Evanescence(before the lead singer drove all the other original band members away),
Older R&B such as The Temptations, Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye,
Blues/Texas Blues such as ZZ Top, and Stevie Ray Vaughn,
And mostly classic country such as Johnny Cash although occasionally some of the newer artists will make it on my playlists when they aren't trying to make me cry when they're singing about dead or dying children like Martina McBride.

Heh, almost everything, with certain favourite leanings.

Just for an example, here's a list off 2 mix CDs I have at work:

Baby Got Back - Six Mix-A-Lot
She Blinded me with Science - Thomas Dobly
Mexican radio - Wall of Voodoo
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads
Where Eagles Dare - The Misfits
Welcome to the Jungle - Guns and Roses
Head Like a Hole - Nine Inch Nails
Hammering in my Head - Garbage
Glycerine - Bush
Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
I'm on the Outside - Staind
House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
This Corrosion - Sisters of Mercy
Pretty When you Cry - VAST
Once Winged Agenl (Remix) - Nobuo Uematsu
All is Full of Love - Bjork
Theme from Goldeneye - Tina Turner

Hotel California - The Eagles
I Wanna be Sedated - The Ramones
Holy Diver - Dio
Take on Me - Ah-Ha
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears
Sabotage - The Beastie Boys
Hella Good - No Doubt
Show me How to Live - Audioslave
Just Like You - Three Days Grace
Faint - Linkin Park
Machinehead - Bush
Animals - Nickelback
Twisted Transistor - Korn
Dirsty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC
Devil Man - Rob Zombie
Du Hast Mich - Rammstein
Every Day is Exactly the Same - Nine Inch Nails
Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
Theme to The Addams Family - Vic Mizzy

Heck, one more:

Big Balls - AC/DC
School's Out - Alice Cooper
Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd
Iron Man - Black Sabbath
Veteran of the Psychic Wars - Blue Oyster Cult
Sunday, Bloody Sunday - U2
Sad But True - Metallica
Rock me Amadeus - Falco
Shout - Tears for Fears
Mouth - Bush
Mother - Danzig
Sober - Tool
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
When Doves Cry - Prince
Walking Dead - DJ ZTrip and Chester Bennington
Fear - Switchblade Symphony
Rise - Yoko Kanno
Brains - Dante
Maybe - The Ink Spots

This doesn't cover the very large collection of 50s rock I have (Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison are particular favourites), a lot of Classical and Baroque, with a lean towards Bach, Handel, Saint-Saens, Stravinsky, and Wagner, and I also collect movie scores that interest me.

I've also had 2.5 years of classical voice training with an emphasis of Baroque opera due to my voice type. I'm a countertenor. I can swing from a High B to the C below Middle C when warmed up. But with the lessons, I can sing almost anything well now...okay, not death metal or anything like that.

If you can find a trend there, you can let me know what the heck it is.

Hey tippmann, check out some of these and see if you like them.

GhostMachine
DevilDriver
The Devin Townsend Band
Buckethead (not much vocals but an amazing guitarist)
bloodsimple
Decapitated
Droid
five finger death punch
Hellyeah
Strapping Young Lad

These are some of my favorites as well. They are mostly hard rock or metal.

I played my trombone in a ska/punk/reggae band for a few months in high school. It was pretty fun. we did a few shows at some local places and actually made money at one of them.

I also like 80's music from Hall and Oats, and other artists of that type.
I will even listen to rap and country. Hip-hop is something that is hard for me to listen too.

The Eurovision Song Contest usually brings forward a lot of really weird music, especially from Eastern Europe... It's a HUUUUUGE event though, and more than one billion (BILLION!!!) people are watching the finals which last for about four hours and is sent directly (with no commercials...).

This year's winner came as no surprise to me, as it was the Norwegian contribution. And we've gotten to know the music very well after it won the Norwegian finals some months ago.

I hope you like it too!
