I was at wal-mart on Friday. They actually had .38,9MM, & .45acp in stock. I had to spend my money on something stupid like groceries. I hate being broke.

It's not that .38 ammo is hard to find it is just that ammo of any kind period is hard to find right now!! I just checked wally world here and they got a bunch of .40s in but nothing else. Hardly even any .22 ammo.

the ammo shortage should be over by next year, companies are over-hauling orders and making a killing

i have been stocking up on 9mm and 38spl for a long time, cases of 1000rds cost that much, delivered. i think its loosening up,no evidence but more people at my gun club have been able to buy boxes at various stores, unheard of just weeks ago.
i will still buy 9mm at $300 delivered.brand name only.my wild guess is supply is catching up with demand, and will stabilize, but cant guess at what price.

I am noticing a lot more stores having stock. I don't think it will be back to normal for a few years but it seems to be progressivly getting better. Seems weird but I notice the Mom and Pop stores keeping better stock than the big chain stores.

Might be 'cuz the mom and pops aren't allowing you to buy as much. I can get only one box of .40, in each 24hr period, from my shop. So I ordered 600 rounds from Cabela's last week, and they came today. O Happy Day! Cost me $250, but this cat food is not bad, really.......

Red face

More likely "Mom" is hitting the Wally's when the truck comes, buys up the lot, then "Pop" sells it for a 100% mark-up.......

I'm finally finding powder and bullets - scarce but can be found. Primers are still very elusive.
Be glad if the price and stock of basic calibers ever comes back to near 'normal'. Shoulda stocked up on .38Spcl and .45ACP when it was dirt cheap.

They limit you...really? I could go down to The Sports Lure and just have them grab whatever I want behind the counter and they'd let me buy it regardless of amount so long as I got the money pay for it...

My local dealer was the only place I could finf .44 Magnums and he was cheaper than any of the big stores too. I got a box of Magtec .44 Mags for $26.00. Still very glad I load my own but had the gun and my dies hadn't come in so I bought a box.

we have been limiting people to 5 boxes in a 24 hour period. it is better that several people get some ammo instead of 1 person getting it all when a shipment comes in.

I'm in Wisconsin vacationing now and I was in their local Walmart. They are limiting people to 6 boxes in a 24 hour period. That seems pretty fair to everyone.

That's what the local Wally does here, too. Maybe it's a new policy for the chain.

I think the scarcity will continue until people have their disposable income invested in guns, ammo, and components OR think they have enough of a personal stockpile that they can focus on other things, like feeding the kids. Then supplies will slowly go up, but I don't think prices will come down until the demand drops way off - like after there is a new administration in D.C.

Wally world ammo

I was in the Tunkhannock, PA Wally World (near Wilkes-Barre) visiting my daughter's family and they had 9mm,38 Spec and 45 ACP 100 round "White Box" and they also limited you to 6 boxes total. Interestingly, the .22LR was also broken down to 50 round boxes-no bricks, and that was also limited to 6 boxes.
It does appear that the supply is outpacing the demand.
I expect (hope) that small pistol primers will show up sometime soon.
