i'm Swiss

So this is my first post here, i thought i would join the forum because its one of the only gun forums that has a section for Swiss rifles.

Anyways i dont actually own a K31 (yet) but my father owns one. He, along with my grandfather where both in the Swiss milatary. My dad served after they upgraded to the semi auto gun (forgot the model). The K31 we do own is my grandfathers. we brought it back from Switzerland 2 years ago when where visiting him (smugled it in one of our ski bags). My grandfather passed away about a year ago and i thought it would be cool to remove the butplate to see his name and everything. well the piece of paper only had the number "30" on it. Does anybody know what this means? i will try to get picture up of the gun next time i go to visit my parents. its super clean!

Welcome aboard. (we have a "mob" of swabbies on here) cant help on the rifle except to say they usually are fine shooters, and to me "30"is one more than "29" and one less than "31",but there are some really smart cookies on here when it comes to old military rifles. sam.

Welcome to the forum! I have only 2 K31 rifles, but I love them both. Both are amongst the most accurate milsurp rifles I have! They are like my children because I don't have any kids just guns

They are a bargain and a dang nice gun I have one its truly a work of Swiss precision. A friend of mine has all the Swiss strait pulls( I think that's like 3 of them) you can get a real nice one for under 300. they are in the shotgun news all the time but buy now before all gone.

Welcome to the site !! Perhaps the "30" is just a rack number, or other ID ??

I have read recently that a simple number would be a "rack" number, but would also identify a soldier lost in conflict based on where the units engaged the enemy !!

Well, I really wish had an idea of what the number 30 was for on your tag, but I haven't got a clue. I do wanna welcome you to G&G though! I'm sorry I'm not helpful on this subject though. I remember when I first heard about the ID tag some of the rifles had. I went and checked mine. It wasn't a winner. Lol Still one of the finest guns I've owned! The Swiss have alot to be proud of! Once again, welcome to G&G!
