Didn't know this was restricted to US military?????????????
Never been in a military chopper, countless civvy ones and countless Bedfords & landies. In my day, it was a treat to ride in a Land-Rover rather than walking!

Got to say the Huey, it was the priemere bird in my day! Besides it's the one I got all of my combat flight time in.

The only helicopter I have stick time in is the Bell Ranger. Fun little bird.
My favorite is the Huey, for nostalgic reasons, from my Viet Nam Era experience in the Air Force. An amazing work horse.

Mi-24 Hind. The Flying Tank. It is not the best, but I like it.

I'm biased, but it is the CH47....it IS the fastest, can carry the most, and is a beast when needed to be....
4500 shaft horse power, 5000 emergency HP, per engine....(714A)
Can carry 26,000LBS and still accomplish 120+knts....internal or external...
50,000 gross....the CH47E/G has exception to policy letter to go above 50,000lbs to 56,000lbs....
When I say the fastest...it can cruise at it's max weight for ever, as long as it has gas....no other helicopter can say that.....
Like I said I'm biased as I have over 2300 flight hours in the back of one of these....
My avatar is from my last flight, in Korea on top of Pinacle 4....coming back in to get me....

I guess I'm bias since I Crew Chiefed in one but my vote goes to the Huey. When they fly the last Black Hawk to the graveyard, they'll fly the pilot home in a Huey...
