Question Polytech AK's...

Is there something special about Polytech AK's that they would cost this much >>>

POLYTECH LEGEND AK47/S 7.62X39 NEW $2399 : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

Or this much? >>>

Polytec AK 47 7.62x39 bayonet AK47 : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

Or is this some serious price gouging?

Hell, I'm still trying to figure and find out why Blaser rifles cost so much?

Polytech isn't any better than any other commie product, except for Romanian. They just put a shiny blue finish on thier AKs. They were 300 dollar guns before Bush the First and Clinton. If you paid 1200 bucks for a Chinese AK, you need a check-up from the neck-up!

Good lord I didn't see that, $2499 ??? That's wild! Some idiot will buy it, A polytech goes for 1200 bucks here at gun shows. Which is still a ripoff. Now 2500 dollars is something else, do you realized what you can get for that much? You can get a Wilson THunder Ranch AR, an AUG, or a SIG, an H&K, or an M-1a super match.

^ Yes you could get one of those but it's not a Legend, hence the ridiculously inflated price of the Polytech-it's a Legend.

With that marketing ploy in mind I might consider selling my AMD-65 for $2250, did I mention it's a Legend?

Just about every AK 47 or AK 74 you run across these days is a parts kit built on a US made receiver. If it's not done right you will end up with problems...Century Arms is famous for questionable built AKs. The Polytech AK 47s on the other hand were completely built in China as as export model...semi-automatic rifle instead of full auto. So there isn't really any question about how well they work.

But thanks to former President Bill Clinton, he signed into law banning arms imported from China. So you have a some what limited supply of PolyTechs and Norincos for collectors. You combine that with the Obama factor and you got people asking First Born prices.

One more thing that really isn't that import to some but to others is everything. The BATF banned the importation of AK 47 barrels. There is a company called Green Mountain re-producing the AK 47 barrel but it's NOT chrome lined like an original barrel. This means a lot of your newer built AK 47 kits are not going to have a chrome lined barrel. The polytechs on the other hand came with factory chromed which adds to the demand.

Now blaster rifles in general are just insane. A bottom of the barrel WASR10 is running around 800.00 which is about what a Polytech ran before the election. Heck, a WASR10 underfolder was selling as high as 2400 there for a while I think if I was looking to get something I would pick up a Saiga and convert it. They make a fine rifle and I believe it's still some what affordable. That or an AMD, JGSales.com was selling AMDs for around 600.00 if I recall. It's always good to check back with them guys and see what they have on hand.

I had a guy trying to sell me a polytech a while back and it was nothing special.

You have to analyze the practical usese of an Ak. Basically it is just a fun bullet burner for playing around with. No AK is going to give match accuracy regardless of what you pay for it. They are all tough and reliable.

600-700 is about the max i would ever pay for an ak.

Legends = good, non-legend ='s garbage, they were imported with weak receivers and will fail sometime after 30k rounds I believe it is.
